WATCH-BRACELET LATCH.
Application filed .Tune 21, 1927. Serial No.A 200,341.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in watch bracelet latches, and relates more kparticularly to latches for link or chain bracelets employed in connection with wrist watches.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a latch of this type which can be f applied to the usual boxes of a link or chain bracelet, which boxes are at the rear ends of the bracelet, the front ends of the latter being connected to the opposite side of the watch.
A furtherobject of the invention is to provide a latch of this kind which can be easily and quickly manipulated to release or apply the bracelet and wherein the parts are reliably held against accidental separation.
The invention further aims toprovide a latch of this kind which is of simple and economical construction.
In the drawings Figure l is a top plan view of the invention;
Figure 2 is a side edge'elevation;
Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2, and v Figure 4 is a section on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention end boxes 1 and 2 are provided, the latter being formed similar to the remaining boxes of the bracelet. The box 2 is formed with an opening 3 in one end thereof and its bottom 4 is extended to form a lip 5 which latter is bent .into hook form. The box 1 has its bottom 6 formed with a cut-out 7 in which the hook 5 is conformably received, so that when the parts occupy closed position, the hook 3 lies flush with the bottom 6 of the box l. A substantially U-shaped latch member is secured within the box 1 and has a long leg 8 soldered to and within the box as indicated at 9 and has its loop 10 projecting without the box and is engageable with the hook 5 when the parts are in open position as depicted in Fig. 4. The shorter leg 1l .of the latch is formed'with a cut-out 12 which constitutes a catch to Vreceive a keeper or lip 13 resultant from the formation of the opening 3. The leg 11 is further formed with a lateral outwardly projecting finger engaging piece 14 vrelative linger piece 14 and thereby the arm or leg 11 of the latch, the latter will be released from the keeper 13 and the boxes may be then separated or slid apart to the position of Fig. 4, from which latter it will 'be noted that the hook 5 may be readily disengaged from the loop 10 of the latch and the bracelet ends separated so as to permit same to be easily removed from the wrist of the wearer.
The latch 10 it will be noted has a rigid connection with the box 1 and since it promovement. By depressing theV jects at a distance from the end of the latter,
it renders connection and disconnection of4 the hook 5 easy and convenient. Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1*. In a bracelet latch, a box having its bottom formed with an integral central hook projecting outwardly from an end of the box, said box end having an opening in register with the hook and having an inwardly extending lip, a second box having an open end and a cut-out in a side thereof and having its bottom formed with an opening to receive the hook, and a substantially U- shaped latch having one leg secured to and within the second box and having its loop extending outwardly through the open end of the second box and being receivable in the opening of the said end of the rst box and engaged with the hook, the other leg of the latch having a catch to receive said lip and having a finger engaging part projecting through the cut-out in the side of the second box.
2; In a bracelet latch, a box having an integral hook on itsbottom extending outwardly from an end thereof and having aV keeper, a second box having an open end and having a cut out in its bottom to receive the hook, and a lateh member Secured to the second boX and having a part engageable With the hook and having a second part en- 'gageable with the keeper.
3. In a bracelet latch,` a boX having an integral hook on its bottom extending outwardly from an end thereof and having a keeper, a second box having an open end and having a eut out in its bottom to receive the hook, and a latch member Secured to the second box and having a loop projecting In testimony whereof I have signed my.
name to this specification.
