LADYS UNDERGABMENT.
Application filed June 23,
This invention relates to improvements in undergarments and has particular reference to improvements in ladies undergarments known as combined brassieres and corset or corselettes.
The object of the invention is to provide a novel, useful and generally improved garment of this character, including novel features for providing abdominal supporting means and an especially well fitted garment including a brassiere portion.
With these objects in view the invention is embodied in a ladys undergarment arranged and constructed as hereinafter set forth and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a view of the outside of the garment opened up flat.
Fig. 2 is a perspectiveview of the garment partially closed.
Fig. 3 is a view of the garment fully closed.
Fig. 4 is a detail view illustrating the closing means or special arrangement. of the hooks and eyes.
Referring to the drawing, .the garment comprises a back corset portion 5 of corset material, usually brocaded silk or the like, and provided with boning or corset 'bones 6, 6 below the waist line 7.
To each side of the back portion there is attached a side portion numbered respec-' tively 8 and 9. The left side portion 8 consists of an upper brassiere portion 10 prefto which. is secured a lower left hip portion 11 of elastic material.
As more particularly seen in Figure 4, the left side portion 8 is provided with a tape 12' extending the length of the garment, and to this ta e are sewed eyelets 13. In, addition, the eft side portion is provided with a stiffening insert 14. g
The upper part of the insert 14 is provided with a tape 15 provided witheyelets 16 which are spaced and placed to correspond with such of the eyelets 13 as are laced in similar vertical spaced position on the tape 12. The arrangement is such, that when the garment is closed, the eyelets 16 form a continuation in spacing and position of the lower eyelets 13., This is clearly seen in Figure 1.
The right side portion 9 is symmetrical erably made of knitted silk or like fabric, p
with the left sideportion 8 and consists 1926. Serial No. 117,949.
also of a lower elastic portion 18 and an upper brassiere portion 19 of knitted fabric hooks 25 which are hooked into the eyelets 13, see Figures 2'and 4 to close the upper part of the garment.
-the garment is closed. To this end, there- \fore, the front portion 21 is provided with In addition, a front corset portion 26 of usual corset material is attached to the edge 20 and extends from the waistline down to the bottom edge of the garment. The front corset portion 26 is provided with an elastic insert 27 and light bonin 28. It is provided with hooks 29 whic hook into the eyelets 16 and the lower eyelets 13. Hence the reason for the accurate and identical spacing of the eyelets 16 and 13.
When the portion 26 is closed as in Figure 3 it completes the garment and securely lace keeps the abdominal support 23 in and flat. In fact, it provides a ,secon dominal supporting portion. I
It will be seen, therefore, that the garment according to this invention provides an upper brassiere portion and a lower corset Also that perfect alinement and good fit is assuredbecause of the one piece tape'12 to which both edges of the inner and outer front portion are hooked. The upper overinto the eyelets 16. In this manner a per-- fect fit vertically is obtained and a smoothly fitting corset is provided by reason of theelastic hip portions. The upper portions form a brasier'e, which fits comfortablyaround thebody.
I claim I 1. A ladys undergarment forming-a comportions secured toget er, eachlof said side portions consisting-of a lower elastic-hip ortionj and an upper brassiere portion, a ont brassiere portion of less length than the said three portions secured to the right ortion with special abdominal supports lapping portion of the front 26 is hooked j edge of the right side portion and provided with boning in its lower part whereby to form an abdominal support; hooks on the free edge of the front brassiere portion adapted to engage eyes on the free edge of the left side portion for closing the brassire of the garment, a front corset portion secured to the right edge of the said right side portion and overlapping in a vertical diof less length than the garment, a corsetfront portion of lesslength than the garment and overlapping'the lower part of the brassiere front, a first row of eyelets on the left free edge of the garment some of which first eyelets are adapted to be engaged by hooks on the free edge on the said brassiere front portion'to close the same, a second additional row of eyelets secured adjacent the said left free edge of the garment, which second row of eyelets together with the remaining unhookedfirst named eyelets are adapted to be engaged by hooks on the said corset front portion to close the same.
3'. A ladys undergarment forming an upper brassiere portionand a lower corset portion, each of said portions including a separate front part, the said two front parts overlapping each other in a vertical direction, and each of said front parts having a free closing edge, hooks in the said two' closing edges, a tape extending the length of the garment at the extreme left ed e thereof, a tape insert in said extreme 1e t.
edge'overlapping a portion of the said full length tape, eyelets in the latter and in the sald tape insert, some of the eyelets in the r said full length tape being adapted to be engaged by all the hooks in the closing edge of the brassiere portion, and the balance of said eyelets in the full length tape together with the eyelets in the said tape insertbeing adapted to engage all of the hooks in the closing edge of the corset portion.
