UNITED STATES] PATENT; OFFICE..-
EVERETT J. COOK, OI TOLEDO, OHIO, ASSIGN 'OB TO THE DUBACOMPAN-Y, OI TOLEDO,
OHIO, A CORPORATION OF DELAWARE.
Application fled March 1a, 1923. Serial in. 626,210.
This application relates to vehicle lamp mountings and particularly relates to dome light mountings for use in closed vehicles.
. The invention consists in the structural 6 features and arrangement of parts'hereinafter described and shown in the accom panying drawings, .wherein:--
, Figure 1 is a view looking upward in avehicle at the improved light mountin Figure 2 is a cross sectional viewthe same.
In these views, the reference character A designates a. dished reflector element formed referably of pressed glass, although s eet metal may likewise be used.
The interior face of said member is silvered or otherwise. ada ted to serve as an eifective reflector of light. The member A has a wall B substantially transverse to the back of said member in which wall is mounted a standard socket C for engagement by a light bulb D. The reflector A is held in place by three screws E passing through openings in a flange E of said re-' 2 flector, said screws. having intermediate flanges F which bear upon said flan e E. The outer endportions of the screws are utilized to retain in place the glass globe member G which is dlshedreversely to the reflector A and which is formed with suitable openings. G through which the 'oute'r portions of the screws E project. Ornamental nuts H are engaged with said screws to retainthe globe G. J is a gasket interposedbetween the reflector A and globe G to absorb shocks and also to compensate for variations. A marginal skirt portion G of the globe G is adapted to embrace the flange E'- of the reflector. v j
The screws E engage a mountin block .K which may be formed of wood an which is arran edbetween the roofcoye 4 and the interior trim Moi the vehicle. e
fabric M is formed with an opening to accommodate the reflector A, the margin of said gpening being clamped between the block and the flange E.
Thecost of the described lamp mounting is reduced and the installation thereof is facilitated by em loyment, as described, of a common means or positioning both the reflector and globe elements A and G of av reevegltacle for the lamp D.
, at I claim as my invention is 1. In av lamp mounting, the combination with a reflector, of a globe member, a lamp' contained between said reflector and globe member and fastenin means for said reflector and globe mem er, including a screw grovided with a flange engaging said reector to retain the same in place, and with an outer end portion extending throu h said globe member and a member detacha%ly engaging said outer end portion and engagirig sald globe member to retain'the same 1n 5 p ace. 4 Y v 2. In a lamp mounting, the combination a with a reflector having a mar a1 flange, of a globe member having a oulder ortion adjacent to said marginal flange an at the side thereof, and a skirt portion surrounding said marginal flange, said -globe member'coactingwith said reflector to form I a container, a amp within said container,
a. yieldable gasket between said marginal 7 flange and shoulder'portion and surrounded by said skirt portion and securing members for said globe member and reflector and in-' cluding a1 scre'whaving a shoulder engagin said mar al flange and a nutthreade 30 upon sai screw and engaging said globe member. p y In testimony whereof I afiix my ture.
