Application filed May 7,
hiv invention relates to pres ...s especially designed for making macaroni, spaghetti, and noodles. -v y The presses now in use are of a complicated nature which are diiiiciilt to cast and require .several machining voperations which makes them costly.
The object of my invention is to provide a press of simple and strong construction which requires little machining, which may be quickly assembled and which may be pro.- duced at low cost.
rlhese objects, and other advantageous ends which will be described hereinafter, I attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a rear view of a press made aricordancc with my invention,
Figure 2 a side. view of the press shown in Figure 1, C
Figure 3 a plan view of the press shown in .Figure l.`
Figure l a section on line le-4 of Figure 1,
Figure 5 a section on line 5 5 of Figure 3. I
Figure 6 a section on lin-e 6-6 of Figure 3, and I Figures 7 and 8 perspective plan .views of elements forming part of my invention.
Referring to lthe drawings, 1l indicates a cylinder, 2 a die head having an opening 3 of smaller diameter than the cylinder and a counter-bore l to provide a shoulder 5 against which the lower end of the cylinder abuts. A die 6 rests on shoulder 5. An at taching head 7, has an opening 8 and a counter-bore 9 to provide a shoulder 10. rlhe upper end of the cylinder fits counterbore 9 and abiits shoulder 10.- Dieihead 2 and attaching head 7 are connected to each other by tie bolts 11 passing through radially extending lugs on the heads. A bracket'12, pivoted to the attaching head by a boltI 13 and fastened thereto by a wing bolt 14, carries a screw 15 having on its lower end, a piston 16 adapted to move within the cylinder, and at its upper end a bracket 17 for receiving a handle 18.
For attaching the press to a support, provide ayoked extension 1.9 on attaching head 7. This yoked extension is integral with the head and cast therewith.
Die head 2 and attaching head 7 being of plain shape may be easily die cast and the counter-bores and openings may be quickly i925.A serial No. 28,611,"4
finished by` machining. The cylinder is preferably cut .from stock tubing` and linished to fit1 the couiiter-boresand cylinder are then quickly assembled and fastened together by theV tie bolts 1l. Makingand fastening these parts in such manner kis inexpensive and produces a strong cyl-y inder body for the press.
Bracket 12, having screw 15 and itsassociated parts con` nected thereto, is pivotally fastened to attaching head 7 by bolt 13. The pres'svassembled in this manner is ready for use.
To use the press, bracket 12 is swung to one side of head 7 to allow material., such as t dough, to be placed in the cylinder. After the cylinder is fill-ed and bracket 12 swung ,to its former position and fastened in place,
The press above described may be produced at low cost, is strong in construction, lirmly holds the die in place, is highly efficient and may be easily cleaned.
lVhile I have described my invention as taking a particular form, it will be undeistood that the various parts may be changed without departing' from the spirit thereof,
and hence I do not limit myself to the precise construction set forth, but consider that I am at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is :--V
1. A press including an attaching head having an opening, a die head having an opening, a cylinder clamped between the heads and communicating with the openings, a die secured in the opening of the die The heads head, a piston bracket swingably mounted on the attaching'head, and a piston in the Y bracket.
2. A press including an attaching head having an opening and a counter-bore, a die head having an opening and a counterbore, a cylinder having its ends in the counter-bores clamped between the heads and communicating with the openings, a die secured in the opening of the die head, a
piston bracket swingably mounted on the attaching head, and a piston in the bracket.
3. A press includingan attaching head having an opening and counter-bore, a die head having an 'opening andY a counter-bore, a cylinder having` its ends in the counterbores clamped between the heads and com.-
municatingf With the openings, the opening of the die-head being of less diameter than the cylinder to provide a shoulder, a die resting on the shoulder, a piston bracket mounted on the attaching head, and a piston in the bracket. Q
4. A press including an attaching head having an opening and a counterbore; a
bracket formed integral with the'head for attaching the press to al support; a die head havi/Iig,` an opening and a counterbore; a cylinder, having its ends in the counterbores, clamped between the heads and communicating With the openings; the opening in the die head being of less diameter than the cylinder to provide a shoulder; a die resting on the shoulder; a piston bracket sivingably mounted on the attachinghead, anda pistonscrew-threaded in the bracket.
In testimony whereof` I have signed my name to this specification.
