FIELD-FENCE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SENECA H. BENNETT, of Belleville, in the county of Mifflin and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Portable Fence Easily Taken Down, Moved, and Readjusted; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings andthe letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in a combination post set in a cross sill and firmly secured to its place by the upper rail of the fence.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my improvement I Will proceed to describe its construction.

No. l is the sill supporting the fence and capable of being moved at pleasure. Nos. 2 and 3 are combination posts with a doveta-il-havng four notches cut in their sides 16,369, dated January 18, 1857.

for the accommodation of the four lower rails and a mortise in the top for the upper one. No. 4 are the rails set and secured in notches of the posts Q and 3 and firmly secured by the top rail being let into the mortise in the top of the posts.

No. 5 Eig. 2 is a section of the combination post and No. 6 Fig. 3 is the sill capable of being moved at pleasure and supporting the fence.

Vhat I claim as my improvement and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination posts secured firmly in their places by the top rails of the fence being let into the mortises in the top of the posts as substantially set forth in the foregoing specification.
