Description

17 1927. May c.- E. FRlTzscHE ICE CREAM CONE `WRAYPEH AND CARRIER Filed Aug. 4, 192e 51: Y l i l Z l Gttomujg Patented May 17, 1927.
UNITED STATES CARL E. FRITZSCHE, 0F FORT FAIRFIELD, MAINE;-
ICE-CREAM-CONE WRAPPER AND CARRIER.
Application tiled August 4, 1926. Serial No. 127,071.
The handling and carrying of a number of .tilled ice cream cones is usually inconvenient and requires the application of both hands.
The present invention provides a wrapper havin a fiat bottom, enclosing walls and a partition connected to opposite walls and havin openings for receiving the cones, the parts eing foldable into flattened form to admit of storing a number of the Wrappers in a pile.
While the drawings illustrate a preferred embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the means to meet specific needs and requirements, the design may be varied and such other changes in the minor `details of construction may be resorted to Within the scope of the invention as claimed, without departing from the spirit` thereof.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and the drawings hereto attached, in Which,-
Figure l is a perspective View of an ice cream cone Wrapper and carrier embodying the invention, showing the saine in section and extended and supported in upright position upon the flat bottom,
Figure 2 is a sectional view, the dotted lines showing a number of cones in place, an
Figure 3 is a sectional view of the wrapper, as it appears when folded.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawings by like reference characters.
The combined wrapper and carrier coinprises a flat bot-tom 1 and enclosing walls 2, two of the walls being narrow and the other two wide. The flat bottoni. l is elongated, that is, narrow and of some considerable length, the narrow walls being at the ends of the bottom and the wide walls at the sides thereof. The construction is such as to admit of the flat bottom 1 folding upwardly between the Wide sides, as indicated most clearly in Figure 3, and the narrow walls folding inwardly and in consequence, the wrapper is adapted to fold in flattened form, so that a number of the wrappers may be arranged in a pile.
The partition 3 is located some distance from the fiat bottom and is attached along its marginal edges to the side walls of the wrapper. This partition, when extended, parallels the bottom 1, as indicated moist clearly in Figure l, and it is of a less length than the bottom l to admit of the end walls of the wrapper folding inwardly. A plurality of round openings 4 are formed in the partition 3 and are adapted to receive the pointed ends of cones 5, as indicated most clearly in Figure 2. The openings 4 are spaced apart a distance to admit of the upper ends of the cones touching without crowding. The mai-- ginal edge portions of the partition 3 are adhesively secured to the side walls of the wrapper by being pasted thereto. The body of the wrapper and the partition 3 consist of paper, or other suitable material best adapted for the purpose. The wrapper, when extended, as shown in Figure l, may be placed upon a` flat surface, thereby holding the cones in upright position, which is desirable at times, particularly when it is required to temporarily lay the package aside.
Having thus described the invention, I claim:
A combined wrapper and carrier for ice cream cones, the same consisting of an elongated flat bottom, and enclosing walls, the bottom being foldable upwardly and the end walls foldable inwardly, and a partition having its ends terminating `short of the end walls of the Wrapper to provide for the inward folding of said walls and attached along its marginal edges to the side walls of the wrapper, and provided in its length with cone receiving openings, said partition being foldable intermediate its edges to lie between the side walls of the wrapper.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature. A
