PATENT ()FFICE,
JOHN C. MURDOCK, OF BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK.
PAPER HOLDER.
Application filed April 16, 1926. Serial No. 102,571.
Theobject of my invention is to provide a device for holding telephone or telegraph message blanks or papers so that the user of a telephone may'have the sheets held while taking and recording the message, also for the purpose of providing a paper file which may be used also for filing bills, letters or memoranda of any kind, to hold them tem-f porarily together; also a device cheap in construction and of great utility. It is particularly adapted to secure sheets of paper together on the face of a desk, table top or shelf, thus holding the sheets in place, easy of arrangement and removal. With these objects in view my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of my device.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of my device.
The same referencecharacters denote like parts in each of the several figures of the drawings.
My invention consists of two parts; one part being an imitation telephone standard A, which may be made of any convenient material and shaped in imitation of a telephone standard; the device consists also of a second part B, formed of wire and having a clamping feature, enabling it to be removably mounted on or grasp the standard A, whether it is an imitation standard, or an actual telephone standard, and on which it is supported while holding or pressing upon the papers. It is to be noted that this spring grip device B is removablv mounted on the standard A; the device B is formed of a single piece of wire 2, bent in a circular or oblong formation or outline, the bend extending out in horizontal alinement, the ends of the bend curved towards each other, forming; an open collar, 4, and at its center the ends in twisted formation 3, extend vertically upward, while the horizontal alinement develops two parallel rims 5, 5; this open collar extends backward in horizontal alinement, at right angles with the twisted formation 3. The twisted formation 3 projects vertically upward a space, when the ends of the wire again divide at 6 and projecting outward and upward on a curved line formation, at 7 and again extending on a curve outward at 8 forming an upper open collar 9, thence the two wire ends project downward on a curve, into the leg format-ion 10, 10, and terminating in the feet 11; this spring grip B of my device may be mounted on the standard A by inserting the standard A through the lower and upper collars 4 and 9 before mentioned, or by placing the sides ofv the. collars 4: and 9 about the standard A; in this manner the legs 10, 10 are held as positioned and shown in Figs. 1 and 2,
with the feet 11, 11 pressed upon the surface or papers 12, on which the standard may be placed.v It is the purpose of my device to use the standard A separately as well as with the wire device B; the wire spring device B may be snapped or sprung around or in contact with a telephone standard, as well as on the standard A;. and in either position, each part of the device, either together or separately may be used as a portable desk file, and is thus used by placing the standard A and the spring grip B upon the letters or papers 12 to be held.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and for which I desire Letters Patentis as follows:
1. In a telephone message blank holder, the combination of astandard A, having the spring collars 4i and 9 formed of a single wire, the collar 9 gripping the standard A and the lower collar 4 resting against the standard A, the two curved ends of the wire forming the sides of the upper collar projecting inward and then outward and downward terminating in feet spaced apart from each other and from the base of the standard and adapted to press down upon layers of paper or other material.
2. A telephone message blank holder, con-.
sisting of a standard, and a removable wire spring clamp mounted on the standard, the clamp having two projecting curved legs, projected outward and downward in curved formation from the standard terminating in feet, in alinement with the base of the standard and spaced apart from eachother and from the standard base, to place upon layers of paper or other material.
3. A telephone message blank holder, consisting of a vertical standard having a base, and reinorahly reprinted on the standard it spring collar clamped about the smndal'd, the collar [oi-med of a single wire coiled and projected into a lower curved support 1'cst ing against the standard, while the outer 5 ends of the Wire are twisted and project for a space up 21rd, then divide into horizontal curved outline, projecting first inward, and
again outward and downward forming curved legs terminating in :feet spaced apart from each other and from the base of the standard in alinei nent with the base in testimony whereof I have aifixed my signature.
