This invention relates to neckties. It is a known fact that the necktie by being frequently tied and untied loses its shape and tears. Therefore the object of the present invention is to provide means for positioning the tie upon users neck without necessity of tying and untying the same'when it is desired to remove the tie from the neck.

Another object of the invention is the provision of simple and efficient means for attaching the tie to-the users neck.

With the above general objects in VleW and others that will appear as the nature .of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.

The tie shown on the drawing is one of the four-in-hand type comprising knot 10 and scarf 11, both formed by tying in regular way. Neckband 12 on a line substantially opposite from knot 10 is slit. The lower corners of the neckband at the slit are cutaway forming a substantially inverted V-shaped incision 13 for the purposes hereinafter stated.

One part of the neckband is provided with loop 14 and the opposite end of the other part of said neckband is ,provided with hook 15 for engaging said loop.

From the hereinabove description it will be apparent that the two portions of the neckband 12 are adapted to become joined by virtue of loop 14 and hook 15 which provide fastening means for said neckband upon the neck of the wearer.

The operation of the tie is as follows: Originally knot 10 is formed for more or less permanent use Without untying or tying the same. To place the tie upon wearers neck loop 14 and hook 15 are disengaged and the two parts of the neckband 12 are placed around the wearers collar and thereupon are attached by engaging hook 15 in loop 14. The V-shaped incision 13 will permit the rear collar button to project beyond the tie, and thus the neckband 12 will not in any manner interfere with the rear collar utton.

In a necktie, a two-part neckband for the tie, the ends of the parts adapted to be positioned ad'acent to but not touching each other when t e band is disposed about the neck of a wearer, a separable connection the elements of which are carried upon the upper portions of the respective ends of the parts for attaching said parts together, the lower portions of the said ends of the parts below the separable connection being cut away at an angle in opposite directions to form a substantially triangular notch for receiving the button of a collar, and said notch communicating with the space between the ends.
