This invention relates to improvement in separable fasteners, andparticularly to that type which consists of complementary, interlocking members respectively secured on the edges of parts to be connected together with a slide having diverging channels, through which the edges of-the strips and interlocking members pass, and by which of one of the they are moved into and out of interlocking engagement. The object of the invention. is to so .form the members that less metal is required, thus permittin the members to be arranged closer toget er to produce a cheaper and stronger construction, and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim. I
In carrying out our inven tion, we employ eye-members 10, struck up ffom sheet-meta with gripping-teeth 11, side flanges 12, and an extension 13 having a perforation 14. The com lementary members 15 are also formed rom. sheet-metal, withgripping-i teeth '16, side flanges 17, and a forwardlyprojecting finger 18 havin a downwardlyturned end to form a hoo 19 adapted to enter the perforations 14 in the eye-members 10. These members are respectively secured to the edges of flexible strips 20 and 21 in the usual manner, and the edges of these 14, and the res ective members are located so closel to et "er that when en a ed the y fi y cannot be removed, except by de ecting-the strips, which is impossi the movement of the slide 22.
1e, except through If desired, the hook-members may be proside flanges, the members on one side formed with pro ections having perforations, and the complementary members having projections with hooks to enter said pertorations when the members are brought together, and a slidehaving diverging channels, through which the edges of said strips and interlocking members extend.
In testimony whereof, we have signed this specification. I JOHN DRAHER,
- ADOLPH J KRIEGER.
