This invention relates to bins and particularly to that type which has a hopper bottom through which the material stored in the bin is delivered.
One of the primary objects'of my invention is the provision of a bin which. can be easily assembled and taken down and is particularly useful in connection, with \VOili which involves the temporary storage of materials in the field.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a novel bottom arrangement for bins which is simple, easily assembled and permits of the use of a bin of other cross section than that of the hopper port-ion as for. example a circular bin which is the most economical form.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a bin which can be'supported by a simple form of support and in such manner that the whole weight of the bin and its load comes directly on the main members of. the support. p I
These together with such otherobjects as may hereinafter appear, or are incident to my invention, I obtain by meansof a'construction which I have illustrated in preferred form in the accompanying drawings, wherein Fig. 1 is a vertical section through a bin embodying my invention;

Fig. 3 is a plan view of Fig. 1 with the upper circular portion of the bin omitted;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the plates which form the bottom of the bin shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3;
Fig. 5 is a plan view of another form of bottom construction embodying my improvements.
Referring now to Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive it will be seen that the bin is composed of an upper cylindrical portion A and a bottom B. The bottom is made up of plates having a horizontal part 3 forming a ledge and a sloping part 4 forming a hopper. As best shown in Fig. 1 it will be seen that the horizontal ledge 3 constitutes a bottom for the overhanging cylindrical portion of the bin.
The support for the bin comprises a rectangular framework with upright members 5, the tops of which are secured to the horizontal channels 6 upon which the horizontal flange 8 of the bin bottom rests.

the bin and material therein will be evenly distributed over the whole supporting framework.
' In the form of support illustrated the op? posite sides of the framework have been trussed (see Fig. 2) in order to stiffen the construction. The ends of the framework may also be trussed in any desired manner but sufficient space should be left'above the ground to allow for trucks. and teams to drive through underneaththe hopper.
The bottom of thebin.'illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3, is made of four plates. Two of these plates 9-9]( see Fig. .4.) have a horizontal flange 3 approximatelyfin the. form of'a segment of a circle and a sloping portion 4: approximately in the form of a triangle. Thesloping part 1 of thesetwoplates is provided on each edge with an upstanding flange 10 preferably formed integrally with the plate.
The othertwo plates 8'-8 are similar in shape to the plates 99, the only difference being that the former have no flanges along the edge of the sloping portion 4:.
To form the bin bottom these plates are assembled by riveting or otherwise securing the edges of the sloping portion of the plates 8 to the flange 10 on the plates 9.
The radial edges 14: of the horizontal flanges 8 will abut in adjacent plates and.
form a tight joint.
It will be seen that the bottom of the overhanging cylindrical portion of the bin will be formed by the flanges 3, and that the remaining portion of the bottom of the bin will be formed by the hopper.
A gate 11 which may be of any desired construction is secured to the bottom of the hopper to regulate the flow of materials therefrom.
In the construction shown in Fig. 5 I have illustrated a bin in which the hopper is hexagonal. The plates forming the hopper are of the same general shape as those shown in Fig. 4:. The principal difference between the plates in the two constructions is that in the hexagonal form each plate would be smaller for a given size cylindrical portion and also each plate is provided with a flange 12 along one edge only thereof, the edge of the plate Without the flange being secured to the flange on the adjacent plate.
It Will be understood that the arrangement of the flanges 10 and 12 in the different constructions is optional as the arrangement shown in Fig. '5 could be used equally Well in the construction shown in the other figures.
