Both the lock ring 17 and demountable flange 19 have sufficient spring tension to tightly contract in the channels 16 and 21, respectively, and to remove the same therefrom it is only necessary to spring their ends apart to circumgferentially expand said lock ring and flange. To positively cir- -cumferentially contract the lock ring 17 in the channel 16, there is provided a coupling sleeve or nut 32 having right and left-hand screw-threaded engagement with 4the projecting studs 33 on the ends of said lock ring.

The lock ring 17 is provided with an outer circumferentially extended shoulder 34 which rests on the outer edge of the channel 16 with a knife-edge engagement. The inner4` surface of the lock ring 17 has engagement with the demountable flange 19 radially outward from its shoulder 34 and is out of engagement with the.bottomy of the channel 16 so that, under the contrae tion of the lock ring 17, the same will move radially inward and thereby press the demountable flange v,19 inward against the tire casing 22. The tire casing y22 rests on the rib 20 and thereby holds the same in its channell 21 against circumferential expansion. A seat 35 is formed in the demountable rim 14 at the inner end of the seat 28 to receive the collar 26 and thereby position the valve stem 24 and hold the same,in its seat 28. The 'cap 27 engages the outer` edge of the demountable rim 14 and, together with the lock-ring 17, vcompletely closes the open-outer ends of the seats 28 and 29.

While only vone lug 36 and the seat 37 therefor is shown, it is ofcourse understood y that a plurality'of Said lugs and seats'may be provided in circumferentially spaced 95 Referring now to Fig. 6, thenconstruction isthe same as that shown in the other fig ures with the exception that the demountable flange 19 is provlded with an outer rib 38 which extends between the outer edge of the demountable 4rim 14', and the lock ring 17, and is clamped against the rim 14 by said lock ring. The other parts shown inlFig. 6 are indicated by prime numbers which correspond to like parts in the other'figures.
Wha-t I claim is:
1.. The combinationwith an annular member', of a vdemountable rimY on the annular member and havinga demountable flange, said demountable rim extending between the annular member and demountable flange and single lock ring having'separable interlocking engagement with the annular member and arranged to independently hold the demountable rim on the annular member and the demountable flange on the demount! able rim.
2. The combination with an annular member having a circumferential channel, of a demountable rim on the annular lmember and having a circumferential channel, a circumferentially expansible demountable flange mounted in said channel, and a single lock ring mounted in the channel in said "125.

The combination with an annular member having a circumferential channel, of a demountable rim on the annular memberand having a circumferential channel and a circiimferentially expansible demountable flange, said flange having a rib extending into the channel in the demountable rim, and a single lock ring mounted in the channel in the annular member and arranged to hold the demountable rim on the annular member and the demountable flange against axial removal from the demountable rim, said rib being loose in the channel in the demountable rim to permit a limited axial movement of the demountable flange on the demountable rim, whereby the pressure of an inflated tire on the demountable rim tends to move the demountable flange against the lock `ring and into its outermost position on the deinountable run.
