This invention relates to a picker stick motion for a loom of that type in which au picker stick includes at its lower end a rocker shoe mounted to rock upon a rocker support carried by the lay rock shaft and in which the coniiguration'of the surfaces of the rocker shoe and rocker support is such as to maintain the path of movement of the effective end of the picker stick where the picker is located substantially rectilinear and preferably in parallelism with the lay.
The main object Vof the invention Vs to provide means for maintaining the rocker shoe throughout its range `of 'movement inv contact with the rocker support and thusy prevent jumping ofthe picker, whereby the accurate movement of the effective end of the picker stick is secured.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple and eificient means for angularly adjusting the path of movement of the effective end of the picker stick with respect to the lay.
These and other objects Vand features of .the invention will appear more fully from the accompanying description and drawings and will be particularly pointed out in the claims. As this general type of picker stick motion is well known and farniliar to those Skilled in the art, it is only necessary to illustrate` and describe those parts of the loom directly concerned with the present invention. Furthermore, as the Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 1 large-A ly in vertical cross section and with the picker stick motionl shown lat the opposite end of its movement.

In the preferred formV of the present invention, this rocker support comprises a base v3, having a hub 4, fitting over and secured to the end of the lay 'rock shaft 1. It is desirable, inl this type of picker motion known as the parallel type, that there be provided some means whereby the path of the effective or upper end of the picker stick may be adjusted into or slight-ly out of parallel with the surface of the lay so as to give a workable motionv in the picking lof the shuttle. In the present inven tion, this is secured by providing as a part ofthe rocker support a bed plate which is angularly and vertically adjustable on the base or angularly adjustable toward and from the lay so as to produce the desiredv result. For this purpose a bed plate 5, havat-G to the outer end of the base 3 and is rigidly and vertically adjustably secured to the base at its inner end. The bed plate is shown as provided with depending side flanges? fitting over corresponding depending side flanges 8 of the base. At its inner end, the bed plate is centrally provided with va depending lug 9` which passes downvv through' a slot 10 n the bed plate 3. A transverse shouldered shaft 11 is journalled in the side flanges 8 of the base and has a central eccentric section 12 passing through an `elongated slot 13 in the lug 9, and this A set screw 15 in one ofthe flanges 8 of the `base abuts against the shaft 11. It will thus be seen that by lplacing a key or wrench shaft is provided` with a polygonal end 14.

In the preferred construction illustrated, the entire picker stick motion is carried by the bed plate portion 5 of the rockerV Y ysupport so that the adjustment of this bed plate effects the desiredrel-ation of the path 'l of the effective end of the picker stick with f respect to the lay without disturbing in any way the relation of the parts of the picker The rocker shoe is provided with a shank 16, having a socket in its upper end in which is litted the lower end of the usual picker stick 17. The picker stick is rigidly secured in this socket by a bolt 18. The base 19 of the rocker slice is shaped on its lower surface so that as it rocks on the surface of the bed'plate the effective end ofthe picker stick, where the picker isY located, will have the required substantially rectilinear movement. In the present; invention, ycooperating means are provided on the picker member, which comprises the picker stick and rocker shoe, and on the rocker support, which in the preferredV construct-ion vcomprises the base and the adjustable bed plate, which cooper-y ating' means act'positively to preventl lifting of the picker member throughoutits rangey .fof movement from the path prescribed by the rocker support and the rocker shoe. These cooperating means preferably comprise a transverse guide preferably carried by the depending extension 2O of the rocker shoe, and a. downhold cam movably, and preferably pivotally, mounted on the rocker support and moved by therocker shoe so as to maintain this downhold cam throughout the range .of movement ofthe rocker shoe directly superjacent this transverse guide.
In the preferredv construction illustrated, the downward extension of the rocker shoe is slotted vert-icallyor bifureated and provided at its lower end with a transverse stud 2S on which is mounted a roller 29 between the bifurcations, and-this roller constitutes the transverse guide.
In the preferred construction illustrated also, the downhold cam is mounted onthe bedY plate 5; For this purposejthe bed'plate is provided with an' upwardly Vprojecting.; arm 30 Vcurved youtwardly at its upper end. This end is slotted or bifurcated and provided with a transverse stud 31. The downhold cam 32 is of sickle shape, so as not to engage the roller 21. This downhold cam is pivotally mountedon the stud 31 and its upper extension 33 is slottedV at 34 to engage 1 and slide upon a block 35whichpivots upon the pin l36, transversely mounted, inthe shank 16 of the rocker shoe. In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker support comprising a base mounted on the lay rock shaft and a bed plate angularly adjustable on the base toward and from the lay, a picker member comprising a picker stick and a rocker shoe mounted to rock on the bed plate of the'rocker support, and cooperating means on the picker member vand the bed plate acting positively to prevent lifting of the picker member throughout its range of movement from the path prescribed by the rocker support and the bed plate, whereby the entire mechanism is bodily and angularly adjustable with respect to the base of the rocker support, and consequently to the lay, thereby to adjust the pat-h of movement of the effective end of the picker member.
3. In a piclrer motion for a loom, a rocker support presenting` a base mounted on the lay rock shaft and a bed plate pivoted transversely to the base at one end and means for vertically adjusting the other end of the bed plate on the base, a picker member comprising a picker stick and a rocker shoe mounted to rock on the bed plate of the rocker support, and cooperating means on the picker member and the bed plate acting positively to prevent lifting of the picker member throughout its range of movement from the path prescribed by the rocker support and the bed plate and whereby the entire mechanism .supported by the bed plate is bodily and angularly adjustable to adjust the path of movement of the effective end of the picker member.
4. In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker support comprising a base mounted on the lay rock shaft an-d a bed plate angularly adjustable on the base toward and from the lay, and a picker member comprising a picker stick and a roclrer shoe supported by and mounted to rock throughout its range of rocking movement on the bed plate, whereby the entire picker member is bodily and angularly adjustable with the bed plate to adjust the path of movement of the effective end of the picker member.
5.k In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker .support comprising a base mounted on the lay rock shaft and a bedplate pivoted transversely tothe base at one end and means for vertically adjusting the other end of the bed plate on the base and a picker member comprising a picker stick and a rocker shoe supported by and mounted to rock throughout its range of rocking movement on the bed plate, whereby the entire picker member is bodily and angularly adjustable to adjust the path of movement of the effective end of the picker member.
6. A picker motion for a loom having the construction defined in claim 5, in which the means for vertically adjusting the bed plate on the base of the rocker support comprises an eccentric engaging the bed plate and rotarily adjustable in the base.
7. In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker support mounted on the lay rock shaft, a rocker shoe mounted to rock on the rocker support, a depending extension from the rocker shoe having a transverse guide, and a movable downhold cam carried by the rocker support and moved by the rocker shoe to maintain throughout the range of movement of the rocker shoe a position directly superjacent the said guide, thus to prevent the rocker shoe from lifting off the rocker v support.
8. A picker motion for a loom having the constructiondefined in claim 7 in which the downhold camis pivotally mounted on the rocker support and has a sliding and rocking engagement with the rocker shoe to effect its stated function.
9. In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker support comprising a base mounted on the lay rock shaft and a bed plate vertically and angularly adjustable on the base, a rocker shoe supported by and mounted to rock on the bed plate, a depending extension from the rocker shoe having a transverse` guide, and a movable downhold cam carried by the bed plate and moved by the rocker shoe to maintain throughout the movement of the rocker shoe a` position 'directly superjacent to said guide to prevent the rocker shoe from lifting off the bed plate.
10. In a picker motion for a loom, a rocker support mounted on the lay rock shaft and having a central, vertical, longitudinal slot, a rocker shoe mounted to rock on the rocker support and having a central, vertical, longitudinal slot, an arm projecting from the rocker support up through the slot of the rocker shoe, an extension depending from the rocker shoe down through the slot of the rockerV support, a transverse guide on the lower end of the extension, and a downhold cam pivoted on the upper end of the arm, slidingly connected to the rocker shoe, projecting down through the slots of the rockerl shoe and rocker support and maintained during the movement of the rocer shoe directly superjacent the said Gui e.
