MIXING DEVICE.
Application filed December This invention relates to a mixing device, and the object of the inventioi i is the provision ofsiiuple and efficient means for mixing, to a high degree of efficiency, the vapors 5 or mixture in the inlet manifold.
Another ohject of the invention is the provision of a simple and efficient propeller device carried by a gasket plate in the inlet manifold and contiguous to the carburetor for efficiently mixing the Vapors prior to the same reaching the head of the motor.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention comprises certain novel combinations, UODSt'l'UCtiOIlS and arrangen'ient-s of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

A hood casing 4; partly surrounds a portion of the exhaust manifold 1 and produces a hot air chamber between the hood casing and the manifold. This casing 4 has horizontal lugs 5 extending from its ends, which lugs are surrounded by encircling, retaining hands (3; these bands (3 hold the hood casing 1 in position against the exhaust manifold 1. Screwed at one end into hood casing l is a sanall air pipe 7, and the other end of this pipe 7 is screwed into the inlet manifold 3. interposed upon pipe 7 between its ends is a valve device 8 for controlling the amount of air passing into the inlet manifold.
A gasketplate 9 with a hub 10 is held, by any suitable means, against the inlet end of the inlet manifold 3.
The propeller device comprises a horizontal shaft 11 that has a split outer end 12 that is normally seated in the hub 10 of gasket:

screw-threaded plug 13, which plug 13 spreads the split end slightly apart and very efficiently and securely fastens shaft 11 upon the gasket plate 9. The outer and of shaft 11 is also split (Fig. 3) and on this split end is formed flange 1% and also a hall race-way 15 in which balls 16 are normally seated. Propeller blades 1'? are formed upon hub 18, and in assembling the device, the hub 18 placed on the outer end of shaft 11 against flange 141. Then the balls 16 are dropped into place, said balls moving into position as shown by dotted lines in Figure 2, where upon the cap 19 is placed in position; this cap 19 has a central tapering screw-threaded plug 20 that screws into the outer split end of shaft 11, and at the same time, the annular flanged edge 21 of the cap 19 slides into the annular hub 18 for holding the ball bearings in place. When the plug cap 19 is screwed entirely into position (Fig. 2), the split outer end of shaft 11 will be sufficiently spread apart to cause the ball hearings to seat against the hub 18 sufficiently to permitthe hub and blades 17 to have a free rotary movement, with the minimum amount of re sistanee, producing a very efficient device. By this structure, the propeller device or mixing means in the intake manifold is comparatively indestructible with reference to its Wearing out or the need of lubrication or attention.
The propeller device whips the mixture and causes the gas to generate with the additi on of a litle hot air from the small pipe 7. It is to be understood that the hot air pipe leading from the exhaust manifold takes hot air from the outside of the exhaust manifold and uses this air to aid in the generating of the gas. The valve device 8 on pipe 7 is to permit adjustment of the amount of hot air that enters the inlet manifold whereby the right mixture is obtained. It is to be understood that the hot air pipe 2 at the rear of the carburetor adds to generating the gas before reaching the motor. I have found from experience that the pipes 2 and 7, hood casing at and the propeller device greatly increase the efficient running of the motor as well as saving gasoline or other fuel oils, and by reason of my invention, carbon is greatly, if not entirely, eliminated in the motor.
While I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings,
certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates during the extensive manufacture of the same, and, I, therefore, reserve the right to make such changes or alterations as shall fairly fall Within the scope of the appended claims.
l'V hat I claim is:
l. A rotary mixing device comprising a gasket plate, a shaft extending from 'said gasket plate, said shaft provided with a split outer end, a hub provided with propeller blades upon said split outer end, ball bearings between said split end and said huh, and a cap provided with a core to. fit in said split end and with a flange to fit in said huh holdin said ball hearings in place as well as said hub and propeller blades.
2. A rotary mixing device comprising a gasket plate, a shaft mounted upon said gasket plate, said shaft provided at its outer end with slitted or split portions and with an annular flange, said split end provided with a race-way, a hub with propeller blades on said split end and surrounding Said race way and abutting against said annular flange, ball hearings in said race-Way and against said hub, and a cap with an annular flange and with a central threaded core and said cap having its core threaded into said split end spreading the same apart for snugly seating the ball bearing against the hub with the annular flange of the cap within the hub and retaining the ball hearings in place.
