The present invention relates to tacking machines and consists in the improvements herein described. I
In the apparatuses hitherto used for fastening or. staplingwith wire staples, the stapling head was arranged fixed to the stand, detachable from or also rotary in the stand. This method of arranging the stapling head'is connected, however, with'the drawback, that the stapling headmust be mounted to the stand anew again every time it is to be used in another position, and that the stapling takes place always on the same spot, though the head be displaced by ninety de rees.
n the present invention this drawback is obviated 1n a simple and reliable manner as the required position by means of oblique surfaces arranged aroundthe vertical axle, against one of which surfaces an oblique face correspondingly worked out at the guiding member of the stapling head may be pressed in 1(slliding down, thereby getting a secure The advantage offered, therefore, by the object of the invention, is consisting therein that it is possible at any time to actuate easily and conveniently the stapling head in any position required, and that the manipu lation of the apparatus altogether is simple and free from difficulties.

In the upright arm 1 of the base plate 2 the vertical axle 3 has been placed-so that the guiding member 5 of the stapling head is attached to the middle portion of the ven tical axle in a manner permitting the stapling head to be swung around. In order to 'fix this guiding member or hinge part 5 of the stapling head in the required position,
the lower part of the guiding portion of the axle 3 is provided with several obliquely faced pro ections 6 extending, e. g., in three directions, and against one of these projections 6 the suitably formed oblique portion 7 of the guiding member 5 of the stapling headmay be pressed. If it is intended, for instance, to displace the stapling head 6 by ninety degrees from the position illustrated in Fig. 1,.it is only necessary to lift the stapling head a little, turn it around and let it v drop again (Fig. 2), and the stapling 0peratgon may be at once proceeded with in the req lnred position.

1. In a stapling machine, a base, a stapling head including a guiding member therefor, means for mounting the guiding member for swinging, andsliding movement relative to the base to'permit the guiding member to be positioned at different operative points on the base, and cooperating locking means on the base and guiding member adapted to hold the guiding member in anyone of its predetermined positions, the locking means of the base and guiding member being separable to permit change imposition of the member through a sliding movement of said member relative to the base.
- 2. In a stapling machine, a base, a stapling head including a guiding member therefor, means for mounting the guiding member for swinging movement with respect to the base, whereby the stapling head may be positioned for operation at'dififerent points on the base, and cooperating inclined surfaces on the guiding member and base serving when in cooperation to hold the guiding member in fixed relation to the base in one or. the other of predetermined positions. 3. In a stapling machine, the combination with the base plate and an upstanding arm ing the guiding member to said axle, so that saidguiding member may be swung horizontally around 'said axle from one operative position to another on said base plate, a plufaces to lock the stapling head in each derality of bevelled surfaces on the foot of sired operative position, substantially as set said axle, the positions of said surfaces corforth.
