The hooks of the two rods are so spaced and arranged that respective hooks will be in vertical alinement throughout the two series. The slots 7 in the panels 5 are of dimensions to accommodate the hooks 11 and the said slots are likewise of a length greater than the distance between respective ones of the hooks upon the upper and lower rods. Such being the case, these panels may be suspended from the hooks upon the upper rod 9 or from the hooks upon the lower rod 10, and in the i former instance, they hooksupon the upper rod9 will engage the upper end walls of the slots and the slots will accommodate the respective hooks upon the lower rod 10. Of course, in the other instance, the hooks upon the lower rod 10 will engage the upper end walls of the slots 7. In view of the fact that the panels 5 may be supported at different elevations and certain of the panels bear upon their opposite faces a series ofv month date ordinals, a suiliciently wide range of adjustment is affordedto permit of display of a calendar month of twenty-eight,
twentynine, thirty or thirty-one days, as
may be necessary, and, likewise, the first day of the month may be arranged beneath the week day abbreviations which will presently be referred to.
The panels 5 are not suspended for free swinging movement butnear their ends they rest at their rear sides against a cross rod 1.2 which is mounted at its ends in the side member 2 of the frame structure 1 and is located a suitable distance above the bottom member 4 of the said frame structure. This cross rod prevents any rearward swinging movement ofthe panels which might otherwise take place, and forward swingingmovement ofthe panels is prevented in a manner which will now be explained.
The means referred to above comprises a panel 13 which may be of sheet metal, wood,
or any other material i or combinations fof materials found suitable for the purpose, and this panel is of rectangular form and of a width equal to the width of the frame structure and is hingedly mounted at one end as at 14, upon one of the side members 2 of the said structure, the panel being so positioned that when swung to closed position as illustratedin Figure 1 of the drawings, it will extend across the lower portion of the open front of the frame structure and will cover and conceal the handle portions 6 of the month date panels 5. The outer face of the panel may bear any advertising matter desired, as indicated by the numeral115, and the said panel 13 may be held closed atits 'free end by any suitable latch device indicated by the numeral 16. may be suitably embossed. The inner face of the panel v13 bears a calendar indicated in general by the numeral 17 and the said cal` endar comprises columns of years indicated cluding the twelve months of the year, thisy roll being located Yabove the upper end of the respective year column 18 and extending laterally toward the right from said roll. Above each month name in the roll 19 is printed, as at 20, the number of days in the respective month. f user of the calendar may determine the day of the week on which the first day of anyv month of that year will fall and can accordingly adjust or rearrange the panels .5 to construct the monthly calendar. At this point it will be evident that when the panel 13 is swung to closed position, which position itwill normally occupy, the calendar 17 will be concealed from view, it being only necessary, therefore, to swing the panel, tok
open position at the first of each month when it becomes necessary to rearrange the panels 5.
The upper or slotted ends of themonth date panels 5 are covered and concealed by a panel 22 which corresponds substantially in dimensions to the panel 13 and which may be of any material found suitable for the purpose. As illustrated in Figure 3 ofthe drawings, this panel 22 may comprise a sheet or ply 23 of metal, veneer, or any other suitable material, upon which may be printed the name of the calendar, as indicated lby the numeral 24;, or anyother matter desired, the said sheet 23 being provided near its lower margin with openings 25 and 26 which are preferably of rectangular formv as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings. The numeral 27 indicates a backing of sheet metal or other suitable material which is secured to the inner or rear face of the sheet 23 and preferably is of the same marginal dimensions as said sheet so that the margins of the two sheets are inV registration with each other. From the foregoing description of the in vention, it will be understood that the calendar when the panels 13 and 22 are closed, presents substantially the appearance of an ordinary monthly calendar, no indicationbeing given that it is in effect, a perpetual calendar.
Figure 4 of the drawings, illustrates a D n c l n slight modification of the invention with respect to the means provided to prevent rearward swinging movement of the lower ends of the month date panels 5, and in this figure the numeral 40 indicates one of the month date panels, the numeral 41 the frame structure in which the panels are suspended, the numeral 42 the lower covering panel which is the equivalent of the panel 15, and the numeral 43 a rod which` is rotatably j ournaled at its ends in the sidemembeis of the frame structure 41. The month date panels'are indicated by the numerals 47, and said panels are provided in their longitudinal edges with substantially semi-circular notches 48 located at the corners of the spaces in which the month date ordinals are printed,the said notches, when the panels are arranged side by side as shown in Figure 5, being designed to register with 'corresponding adjacent notches so as to provide substantially circular openings between the adjacent edges of adjacent panels. Likewise, the inwardly presented faces of the sides 46 of the frame 45 are formed with substantially seini-circular grooves or notches 49 with which the notches in the edges of the endinost panels are designed to register, as shown in the said Figure 5. The marker is shown most clearly in Figure 7 of the drawings and is indicated in general by the numeral 50, and they said marker comprises a rectangular frame 51 which is of dimensions-substantially equal to the dimensions of the space within which any one of the month date ordiiials of the month date panels are printed. This frame may be of metal andof any appropriate color to contrast with the surface defined by the group of panels, and projecting rearwardly from the upper corners of the frame formed by the registering notches atthe upper corners of any of .the month date spaces, the marker being, in this manner, supported upon the iace of the panel assemblage in position to surround and en-y -l'ranie 51, as clearly shown in Figures G and 7 ott the drawings, so that the thumb nail and .torei'inger nail may be engaged `Vith the mai-lier vtraine to permit of suchV remoral and repositioning ol the frame.

A calendar of the class described comprising a iframe, spaced upper and lower supporting menibers extending transversely within the upperv portion of the trame, suspension elements upon the said members, respective ones of the elements being arranged above one another, and month-date panels having slots in their upper portions Vof a length greater than the distance between two respective ones of the said suspension elements whereby each panel may be suspended from either of two associated ones ot' said elements, the slot in each panel accommodating the lower element when the panel is suspended lroni the upper element.
