' Be it known that I, HERMAN J. II'AMJAIER a citizen of the United States, and a resident 'of Viiallingford, county of Haven, and State of Connecticuahave in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Collapsible Dispensing Tubes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toilet articles and more particularly to a holder for 001-" laps'ible tubes containing tooth paste, shaving cream, and the like.

One object of the invention is 'to provide a tube holder of the above nature which will be adjustable to fit tubes ofvarious sizes.

A further object of the invention is to pro- 'vide a device of the above nature in which the tube maybe readily detached and re placed by anew one whenever desired.

A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which-will be simple, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, compact in size, and very efficient and durable in use.

With these and other objects in view there has been illustrated on the accompanying drawings one form in which the invention may be conveniently embodied in practice.

Fig. 1 represents a front view of atube holder embodying the principles of the invention.

Fig. 2 is a side view of the same. Fig. 8 is a bottom view of the same.

Referring now to the drawings in which like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 indicates a tube of paste, such as tooth paste, shaving cream, etc. The tube 10, which is preferably made of any suitable bendable metal such as lead,'is provided with a cylindrical body portion 11, and has one end flattened at 12 with its extremity 13 bent over as is usual in collapsible dispensing tubes of this nature. For the purpose of closing the open end of the neck portion 15 ofthe tube, a flat wing member 28 is provided, said wing pivotably mounted on a pin 29 supported in a pair of ears 30 on thelower plate 25, said ears 30 being preferably bent up from the metal of'said plate. In operation when it is desired to insert a dispensing tube in the holder, thescrew cap is first removed from the neck of the tube and discarded. The flat end of the tube is then inserted between the jaws of the spring clamp 19, by means of which the tube will be suspended in a vertical position with its neck portion downward. The upper and lower plates 23 and 25 are next adjusted relatively until the conical shoulder action of the spring 31.

When it is desired to use the device, the operator will move the wing meunber 8 downwardly about its pivot and against the He will then insert a brush beneath the uncovered end of the neck'15 of'the tube, and squeeze the sides of the tube together until the required quantity of paste has been forced out upon the brush. The brush may then be removed and the wing member 28 released, permitting it to close under the action of the spring 31.

()ne advantage of this invention isthat aftera tube has been installed in the holder, the desired supply of paste may be very easily and quickly. dispensed merely by swinging down the hinged wing member and squeezing. the tube, and without the necessity of removing and replacing a screw cap as in the ordinary use of such tubes.

While there has been disclosed in this specification one form in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that this form issho-wn fo the purpose of illustration only, and that the invention is not to be limited to the specific disclosure, but'may 'be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit. In short, the invention includes all the modifications and embodiments coming within the scope of the following claim.

Having thus fully described the inven? tion, what is claimed as new, and for which it is desired to secure Letters Patent is:

In a holder for collapsible tubes containing paste to be dispensed, a base adapt-ed to lie against a wall or other support, said base being composed of two telescoping parts which can be relatively adjusted to vary the length of the holder, a clamping member secured to the upper part of said base for supporting the closed end of the tube, a shelf secured to the lower part of said base for supporting the neck of said tube, and a spring-pressed plate hinged to the lower part of said base for normally closing the open end of said tube.
