Description

s. WIEDER LIP'STENCIL Dec. 8, 1925 1,564,806
Filed Jan. 24, 1925 ATTORNEY.
Patented Dec. 8, 192 5. A I
SAMUEL WIiDER, 01' NEW KENSINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
LIP s'rnncm Application filed January 24, 1925. Serial no. 4,400.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SAMUEL Wmnna, a
citizen of the Republic of Esthonia, residing at New Kensington, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain newv and useful Improvements in Lip Stencils, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is for a stencil for use in applying cosmetics or make-up to thelips.
he invention has for its object to rovide a device in the nature of a stencil, which-may be convenientl held against the upper lip with one'han while a lip-stick is rubbed over the lip. whereby only the desired portion of thelip canbe quickly and easily colored without the painstaking effort now generally required.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which may be flexed within restricted limits, to conform to the requirements of the individual user, and which may be easily kept clean.
The-nature of the invention may be readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a view representing the manner in which the'article is used;
Fig. 2 is a top view of the article;
Fig. 3 is a plan view thereof and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the article.
The article, which is refer-"ably made of celluloid or similar resilient or flexible material, has a substantially flat main portion 5,
and inwardly curled ends 6 forming finger holds for the device. The article has a suitably shaped lower edge 7, preferably of npid bow configuration, while the up Kr edge 8 may have any suitable shape. e width of the sheet is ample to give strength, while the thickness is not too reat to render it unduly stifi. It may be thickened at the ends so as to give rigidity to thefinger holds 6, as indicated at 8,
' plate having In use, it is pressed against the upper lip by the spread thumb and forefinger of one hand, leaving uncovered that ortion of the upper lip to which the cosmetic is to beapplied. A lip stick or other cosmetic may then be easily and (huickly applied, the space between the sprea thumb and forefinger giving ample room and vision for applying the lip stick. As only the exposed part of the lip will'receive the paint, a sharp symmetrical outline can, be almost instantl formed. B raising or lowering the stenci which is fairl long, and by suitable flexing thereof, the evice can be suited to a wide mouth or to a small one.
From the fore oing, it may be seen that the article great y facilitates the amplification of coloring or make-up to the lips.
I claim as my invention: 1. A lip stencil comprising a bendable finger-holds thereon, and a lipshaped stencil e ge on the plate.
2. A lip stencil com rising a substantially flat plate having cur ed-up ends providing finger-holds, one edge of the .plate having 3. A lip stenci comprising a celluloid plate havlng turned-up ends provid ng finger-holds one edge of the plate having the outline 0 an upper lip.
4. A lip stenci comprising a'cellulold body having integral turned-up ends, the thlckness of the end portions of the late being thicker than the main bod of t e plate to impart greater rigidity to t e turned-up portions, one edge of the plate conformmg to the outline 0 an upper 11p.
5. A lip stencil comprising a celluloid the outline of an upper lip.
plate having a stencil edge of ii -sha ed formation, and finger-holds at ca en of the plate.
In testimony whereof-I aflix my signature.
' SAMUEL WIEDER.
