BOTTLE CARRIER.

To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, CHARLES T. HATCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Albion, county of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle Carriers, of which the following is a specification.

The main object of this invention is to provide an improved bottle carrier for lubricant bottles, milk bottles and the like which is made up of relatively light materials, is strong and durable and one. in which the bottles are supported so that they do not tilt or rock therein.

Objects relating to structural details will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.

A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a.

part of this application, in which:

Referring to the drawing, my improved bottle carrier comprises atop frame member 1 and bottom or side frame member 2, each being formed of a single piece of wire, the ends of the wire being welded together. These frame members are sup orted in spaced relation by the end uprig ts 3 and side uprights 4, the bottom frame member being disposed in a spaced relation relative to the lower ends of the uprights.

The end uprights 3 are connected by the longitudinal bottom members 5, being formed integral therewith while the lower ends of the side upright members are connected by the transverse bottom members 6, being formed integrally therewith. The transverse bottom members are disposed above and rest upon the longitudinal bottom 'me'mbers. the longitudinal bottom members having offsets 7 therein in which the transverse bottom members 6 are disposed as shown in Fig. II, the offsets being such that the upper edges of the bottom members are in the same plane.

' The longitudinal partition members 8 are secured to the undersides of the end portions of the frame members while the trans- .verse partition members 9 are secured to the side portions of the frames 1 and 2 and are also secured to the longitudinal partition members at the crossing points thereof.

This provides a plurality of compartments each adapted to receive a bottle or can or the like, the crossed longitudinal and transverse bottom members constituting bottoms for the compartments. The offsets 7 in the longitudinal bottom members bringing the. upper edges of the bottom members in the-same plane permits the bottles to rest on both the transverse and the longitudinal bottom members so that there is no tendency for the bottles to tilt.

The handle comprises a pair of uprights 10 secured to the longitudinal partition members and having a grip 11 on the cross piece 12 connecting the upper ends of the uprights 10, the two uprights 10 and the cross piece being formed of a single piece of wire. The handle is braced by the inverted U-brace 13 which is secured to the uprights of the handle andto the top longitudinal partition wire.

The several parts are spot welded together at their cross points, thus providing a very rigid construction, the connected parts constituting coacting brace members for other parts and at the same time providing a structure which is very economical to produce and the bottles are effectively supported therein. The ofi'sets 7 provide feet so that the carrier has stability on a relatively uneven surface.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- .ters Patent is:

1. The combination of top and side frame members comprising integral side and end portions, upright side and end members secured to the inner sides of said frame'members, said side and end members having longitudinal and transverse bottom bars integral therewith, the longitudinal bottom bars being disposed below the transverse bottom bars and having downward offsets therein in which the transverse bottom bars are disposed so that the upper edges of the longitudinal and transverse bars are in substantially the same horizontal plane, the offsets of said longitudinal bar constituting supporting feet for the carrier, the side frame member being disposed in a plane above the bottom bars, and longitudinal and transverse partition members disposed in crossed relation with their ends secured to the end and side portions respectively of the frame members providing compartments with the transverse and longitudinal bottom bars intersecting centrally thereof providing bottoms for the compartments.

2. The combination of top and side frame members comprising integral side and end portions, upright side and end members secured to the inner sides of said frame members, said side and end members having longitudinal and transverse bottom bars integral therewith, the longitudinal bottom bars being disposed below the transverse bottom bars and having downward offsets therein in which the transverse bottom bars are disposed so that the upper edges of the longitudinal and transverse bars are in substantially the same horizontal plane, and longitudinal and transverse, partition members disposed in crossed relation with their ends secured to the end and side portions respectively of the frame members providing compartments with the transverse and longitudinal botton' bars intersecting centrally thereof providing bottoms for the compartments.

3. The combination of top and side frame members comprising integral side and end portions, upright side and end members secured to the inner sides of said frame members, said side and end members having longitudinal and transverse bottom bars integral therewith disposed in crossed relation, there being offsets in one of the bottom, bars to ,receive the other at the crossing point so that the upper edges of the bottom bars are in substantially the same horizontal plane, and longitudinal and transverse partition members disposed in crossed relation with their ends secured to the end and side portions respectively of the frame members providing compartments with the transverse and longitudinal bottom bars intersecting centrally thereof providing bottoms for the compartments.
