Description

H. H. ANDERSON BATHROOM FIXTURE Filed Aug. 16, 1924 ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 27, 1925.
"UNITED STATES HANS H. ANDERSON, OF oHIoAGo, iLLINoIs.
BATHROOM FIXTURE.
Application filed August 16, 1924. Serial No. 732,541.-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, I-IANs H. ANnnnsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at 925 Center St, Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bathroom FiX- tures, of which the following is a speeification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in bathroom fixtures and more particularly to a combination support which is adapted for use in supporting several articles at one time. The main object of my invention is the provision of a supporting device which is adapted to be attached to the wall of the bathroom or any other suitable support and has provision for supporting a drinking glass, soap, tooth brushes and other articles of this character which are generally used in the bathroom.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a supporting device having a removable position with respect to the main supporting arm which is used for supporting wash cloths and the like and can be used either with or without the main fixture.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in
which V Fig. 1 is a top plan structed in accordance with my invention,
Fig.2 is a longitudinal section on the line 22 of Fig. 2 c
Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 33 of Fig. 2-and Fig. 4 is a transverse section on the line 44 of Fig. 1. r
In carrying out my invention I prefer'to stamp the main body of my article out of a single piece of material and in forming the device, a supporting flange 1 extends .at right-angles to the main body 2 and is provided with a plurality of perforations 3 adapted to receive screws or similar fastening members whereby the device may be supported from the wall or any other suitable support which is convenient in the bathroom.
The main body 2 has a depression or receptacle 4 at one end, the bottom of which view of a device conis formed with a' plurality of'transverse upstanding ribs and th s receptacle is 7 especially adapted fori'eceiving soap and the like. Particular attention is directed to the longitudinal groove '6'forme dalo'ngone 4 which is adapted to receive the water drained from the soap after it has been used and placed in the depression 4: upon the ribs 5. It will be apparent that as the water drains from the soap through itsspaced relation with the floor of the depression between the ribs 5 it will run downwardly into the groove 6 so that the soap will not re main in the water or moisture.
Formed in the body 2 adjacent the depression 4 is a circular recess 7 pressed out of the material forming the body 2 to provide a receptacle for a drinking glass or the like. The depression 7 is deep enough.
so to prevent the'glass from being ace-i with a beading 9 formed by overturning the upper edge of the plate forming the body and the body is provided with an opening 10 arranged adjacent the depression 7 and is further provided with a yieldable tongue 11 stamped out from between certain of the openings 8 at one end of the body and provided with a central angular depression 12.
A supporting rod 13 is provided for use in supporting wash cloths and the like. One end of the rod 13 is provided with otl'set re-, taining bends 14 which are inserted inthe opening 10 from the under side of the body plate and the end of the hook engaging with .the upper surface of the plate while a portion of the rod 13 engages beneaththe resilient tongue 11 resting in the depression 12. The resiliency of the tongue 11 will have a tendency to force the rod 13 into binding engagement with the edge of the beading 9, thus, retaining the rod in a substantially horizontal position with respect to the body plate 2. From this it will be apparent that the rod 13 will be quickly and readily detached from the body 2 or attached thereto.
of the longitudinal edgesof the depression It will be apparent from the foregoing that I have provided a bathroom fixture which is adapted to support several articles and which can be stamped from a single piece of material at a very low cost.
lVhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A fixture of the class described including 15 a rod, a body plate having an opening therethrough, a heading on the edges of said plate, a yieldable tongue stamped out from the body plate between the opening and one edge thereof, said tongue being normally projected below the lower surface of the body plate, o'll'set retaining bends on one end of the rod adapted to be inserted through the opening and engaged with the upper surface of the body plate, said. rod being engaged between the heading and the yieldable tongue for supporting the same in a horizontal position.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
HANS H. ANDERSON.
