'Be it known that I, STEVEN KoBzY, a former subject of the Emperor of Hungary (who have declared my intention of be- States), and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Switches, of which the following 1s a specification.
My inventionrelates to improvements in electric switches, and has for its object the provision of an improved construction ot this character, whereby one switch may be readily utilized for `controlling a plurality of electric circuits. l

The preferred form of'. construction, as illustrated in lthe drawings, comprises `a suitable base block 5 of insulating material and secured thereto. A metallic contact plate 21 is arranged Within the casing 6 on top ofthe base 5 and' is provided with a suitable binding post 21 to which is connected a lead wire 22 for supplying current to anelectrical appliance, such as the tail light of an automobile. The plate 21 carries a springvleaf contact 23 positioned under the central position of the switch arm 16 and cooperating'with a companion spring leaf contact 24 ona metallic plate 25 secured to the'base 5, as shown. W'hile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carryin my invention into eiect, this is capa le of variation and modificationwithout departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore, do not wishA to be limited to the precise details of the construction set "forth, but desire to avail myself of such vaating against contact 36 provided withto `another electrical a-pplance such as a signal arm of an automobile.
It will `thus be seen that in 'Lacasse riations and modifications. as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l 1. An electric switch comprising a base; a stem swivelled in said base; a switch arm pivotally connected with said stem; a bearing washer slidable on said stem' and opersaid switch arm; a compression spring imprisoned between said bearing washer and said base and arranged to hold said switch in open circuit position; and lelectric contacts arranged to be engaged by lateral and verticalswinging of said switch arm, substantially as described.
2. An electric-switch comprising a base of insulating material; a casing secured to said base; a vertical metallic stem swiveled in said base; a binding :post having electrical connection with said stem; a metallic switch arm pivotally connected with the upper end of said stem, said stem being bifurcated and said switch arm being pivoted on a horizontal axis in said bifurcation; a bearing washer slidable on said stem and bearing against the under side of said switch arm; a compression spring imprisoned between said bearing washer and said base; a handle of insulating material on the outer end o said switch arm, there being a substantially T- shaped slot in said casing, through which said handle projects; central contacts arranged to be engaged by depression of said switch arm, when in central position; and lateral contacts arranged central position arranged to be engaged by thel lateral swinging of said switch arm, substantially as described.
