This invention relates to a combinedpost hole dig erand wire windin device, the

These. bars may be secured to a tractor, as shown in Figure 1 .or to a ortable gas engine or the like. The frame is adapted to be-tilted on its pivots by the lever 5 engagin the segment 6 on one of the. bars 4. The s aft 2 has a belt pulley 7 thereon so it may be driven from the en me of the tractor or the other engine. T shaft is also rovided with a friction wheel which is sli ably mounted on the shaft but .is held against rotary movement thereon.
A shaft 9. is journaled in the frame and a sleeve- 10 is keyed to this shaft so it can slide. thereon but cannot rotate thereon. A friction wheel is. secured to each end' of thesleeve, as shown at 11 and 12, these wheels being adapted to engage with the wheel 8 so that when one wheel is engaging said wheel 8 the sleeve and shaft 9 will be rotated in one direction and when the other wheel is engaging wheel 8 the sleeve and shaft willbe rotated in an opposite direction. From the above it will be seen that the movement of shaft 9 will be communicated to the screw-shaft so that the same will be rotated and moved longitudinally to-feed the auger to its work and at the same time rot-ate it. ' I may also provide a forked bar 39 for making the device useful in pulling up posts. This bar is fastened to a part of the tractor or to another support by a boltwhich passes through the slot 40 in thebar. A bushing 41 is rotatably mounted in the bar and this bushing is adapted to receive the screwshaft 33, apart of the joint 35 engaging the bottom of the bushing. Thus when the screw-shaft moves upwardly it will carry the bar 39 with it and thus pull up the post which is fastened by a chain 42 with the forked end of the bar.
It is thought from the foregoin description that the advantages and nove features of my inventionwill be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within'the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is In a mechanism of the character described, a frame, a disk arran ed at one end thereof and fixed to the rame, rack teeth on the disk, a rotatable disk arranged in opposed relation to-the first disk, a lever carried thereby and provided with latch elements engageable in the rack teeth where-- by to hold the rotatable disk in an adjusted position about its axis, bearings carried by the rotatable disk and a rotatable shaft journaled in the bearings.
