Be it known that I, CHESTER A. BARNES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Blue Grass, in the county of Scott and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful improvements in a Harrow Scraper,`of which the followingis a specification.
This invention appertains to farming implements and the primary object of the invention is to provide a novel scraper or cleanerI for the disks of disk-harrows, whereby the said disks can be expeditiously cleaned.
` Another prime object of the invention is the provision of an improved scraper attachment for disleharrows which can be associated with any preferred type of diskharrow, `the attachment embodying novel resilient means for normally urging the y vscrapingblades simultaneously into scraping position uwith the faces of the disks for effectively scraping clods of earth, mud and the like therefrom. l
Another prime object of the invention is `Il the provision of means for automatically urging the scraper bladesof the attachment into engagement with the active face of the disks, thereby eliminating thenecessity of manually urging the scraper blades into engagement with the disk by the use of, a foot pedal or the like.
A further object of the invention is 'the provision of a novel scraper attachment for diskharrows embodying a supporting frame for connection with the harrow, a plurality of scraper blade carrying arms supported by the frame, novel means for connecting the arms together, novel means for urging" the arms in a predetermined direction for holding the scraper blades in operative relation tothe disks of the harrow, and novel manually operated means for moving the scraper blades from out of operative position in relation to the disks.
`Afurther object of the invention is the provision of novel means for mounting the scraper blade carrying arms onthe frame, whereby accidental twisting movement of the arms will be eliminated.
A further object of the invention is the provision of novel means for connecting the scraper blade supporting arms with the bar utilized for connecting all of the arms togethenwhereby the armscan be adjusted `independently of one another to compensate for uneven wear on the scraper blades.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an improved scraper attachment for disk-harrows of the above character, which will `be durable and eiicient in use, ene that will be simple and easy` to manufacture and onewhich can be placed upon rthe market and incorporated with a disk-harrow at a minimum cost. f
"With these and other objects in view, the,V invention consists in the novel-construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which drawings: Figure l is a top plan view of a harrow showing the improved scraper attachment incorporated therewith.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference 4characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the letter A generally indicates a harrow of the disk type and B the improved scraper attachment therefor'.
The disk-barrow A can beof any desired make or construction and has been shown simply to illustratethe use of the improved scraper. The harrow A as shown includes the frame l0 preferably formed of angle iron having the caster wheels 11 connected with the forward end thereof. Any preferred type of draft beam`l2 can be connectffl ed with the caster wheels 11 so as to permit the drawingo the disk-harrow over a lield. Either draft animals, or tractor can be utilized for pulling the said harrow. The rear end of the frame supports gangs 13 of harrow disks and as shown tlie 'framesupports rear bearings 1li for receiving the axles 15 upon which the disks 16 or' the gangs are mounted. lhc various, details of construction of the harrow hasnot been gone into, in view of'. the fact that the invention resides, as heretofore stated, in the improved attachment Bf. However, the harrow A is provided with means 17 for permitting the adjustment ot the harrow gangs 13 relative to the fra1ne,andv the frame supports va suitable seat 1S located directly between the gangstl of the harrow disks.
For a disl'r-harrow embodying two gangs of disks the improved scraper attachment B comprises lett and right-hand sections 19 and 20.` These sections 19 and 20 are constructed identically the same and therefore the description of one is deemed suiicient for both'.
Each section embodies a supporting trarne 21i preferably formed of angle iron and each traine includes the spaced transversely eX- tending angle bars 22v which are connected at their outer ends byy means ot a short angle bar 23'.
.Arranged in spaced relation to the rear angle bar 22 is a bar 24 which can be formed of strap iron or the like. Each frame 21 supports depending brackets 25 which are bolted or otherwise secured as at 26 to the bearings 1st. rlhis holds each frame above its gang of disk harrows. An arm 27 is provided for each disk 16 and these arms are disposed between the rear angle bar 22 and the bar 24 in spaced relation, as clearly soown in thev drawings. Each arm 27 has secured thereto in any preferred way at a point intermediate its ends, a block 28 which is connected through the medium of a pivot pin 29 to the rear angle bar 22 and the bar 24. The lower ends oif the arms 2T have riveted or otherwise secured thereto the scraper blades 30 which are curved to conform to the conliguration of the disks 16. These blades are of a suiiicient length to eX- tend from theaxial center o'l` each disk to the periphery thereof- It is preferred to slightly twist the lower end of each arm 2T so as to place the scraping blade at an angle with the curve ot the disks. The arms eX- tend anl appreciable distance above the frame 21 so'that a sufficient throw and leverage can be given to each arm. Arranged above the arms 27 is a connecting bar 31 which supl ports depending relatively short adjustable bars 32'. These bars 32 are held in an adliustedv position on the connecting bar 31 through the medium of U-shaped clamps 33 which embrace the bar, and flanges ot the U-shaped clamps are slotted or notched to receive the vertical bars 32. Each bar 32 is provided with a vertically extending slot 34 whilethe connecting bar 31 is provided with transversely extending slots An adjustingf'bolt 3G is passed through the slots 34 and 35 and a. suitable nut 37 is placed on the threaded end thereo'l". 1t is obvious that by loosening the nut and bolt, each vertical bar can be adjustedboth in a vertical and a horizontal plane7 the purpose of which, will be heininafte.` more 'fully described. The upper terminals of the arms 27 are biifurcatedi to receive the lower ends ot the vertical bars 32 and the bifurcated ends ot the arms are rolled to provide eyes 37 for receiving connecting bolts 3S which extend through the lower ends ot'said vertical bars 32. New by adjusting the vertical bar 32 and the clamp 33, each scraper blade 30 can be adjusted relative to its own disk, which is essentialV for compensatingtor wear thereon.
By moving the connecting bar 31 all oi: the arms 27 are operated, thereby bringingthe scraper blades into or out ot operative position relative to their disks 1G according to the direction ot movement oi the connecting bar. A relatively heavy contractile coil spring Ll() is utilized for urgrfing the connect-ing bar inwardly, so as to normally hold the scraper blades in active position relative to the disks. One end ol the spring 40 is connected to a suitable bolt 4l carriedby tlul connecting bar 31 adjacent to its inner end, while the opposite end of the spring is connected to the inner end ot an adjusting screw 42 carried by the outer loireitiulinal anale bar 23. lt is obvious that by adjustingv the screw 112, the tension ot the spring 40 can be regulated df'hen it is desired to hold the scraper blade out ot operative position relative to the disks or to adjust the position of the scraper blades relative to the disks a main adjusting screw i3 is actuated. This main adjusting screw 43 is carried by a suitable block del secured to the inner end of the connecting bar 31 and in order to facilitate the turning'ot this screw a hand wheel 45 is rigidly secured to the upper end thereof. The lower end of the main adjusting` screw 13 isr adapted to impinge against the rear angle bar 22 and it is obvious that by rotating` the screw so as to keep the same downward that the connecting bar can be liited and the arms swung against the tension oi: the spring 10.
From the foregoing description, it can be seen that l have provided an exceptionally simple and durable scraper 'for harrow disks, which will effectively accomplish the purpose intended and eliminate the ditiiculty heretofore contingent with the use of scrapersnow on the market.
Changes in details may be made without departing from the spirit or the scope of this invention. y

l. The combination with a harrow including a gang of barrow disks, of a 'scraper attachment `1to1' the disks including ahori- `zontallydisposed frame arranged abovethe the scraperblade in an operative scraping position relative to the barrow disks, and
manual means for moving the connecting bar in the opposite direction against said spring means.
2; The combination with a barrow including a gang of barrow disks, a frame, bearings connecting the gang" of barrow disks to the frame, `of a 'scraper attachmentfor the barrow including a supporting frame arranged above the gang oit' barrow disks, depending brackets carried by the supporting frame secured to said bearings, a plurality of pivoted arms secured to the supporting frame at a point intermediate their ends, a blade carried by the lower end of each arm for engaging a harrow disk, a
` connecting bar, vertically extending attaching bars pivotally connected to the upper end of each arm, means adjustably connecti ing verticalbars tothe connecting bar, and
a contractile coil spring-connected to the supporting frame and connecting bar, and a i manually operated screw for adjusting said connecting bar in a direction against the tension of said spring. i
3. The combinationwith a barrow including a gang of barrow disks, of a scraper attachment for the hai-row including a frame, a plurality of arms pivotally secured intermediate their ends to the frame, scraper' blades carried by the lower ends of the arms for the barrow disks, a connecting bar arranged above the upper ends of the arms, vertically extending bars pivotally connected to the upper ends oi' the arms, said vertically extending bars being provided with vertically extending slots, the connecting bar being provided with spaced horizontally disposed slots, U-shaped clamps straddling said connect-ing bar and slidably receiving the vertical bars, and adjusting bolts extending through the connecting bar, clamps and vertically disposed bars, as and for the purpose specified. i
4. A scraper attachment comprising a frame, a plurality of pivoted arms secured to the frame, a connecting bar, means adjust-ably connecting each arm to the connecting bar, a longitudinally curved scraper blade carried by the lower end of each arm, resilient means for normally urging the connecting bar in one direction, and a manually operated screw carried by the connecting bar and for engaging said trame for moving said connecting bar in a direction opposite to the pull of said spring,
