BRACELET HOOK.

To all 'whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, Louis E. Vnnoornar, a citizen of the United States, residing ai: Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bracelet Hooks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention rela-tes to a hook or connector more particularly adapt-ed for attaching the ends of a bracelet to a wrist watch and the like; and the object of this invention is to provide a simple and practical construction of such a( hook in which the body and hook portions and the tongue portion are formed of a single piece of stock folded upon itself and the body portion having a housing to inclose and protect a. portion of the hook closing tongue.

With this and other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a side elevation showing a watch and illustrating hooks of my improved construction as attaching the ends of a bracelet to the watch. j

Figure 3 shows the hook in section as formed by folding the blank shown in Fig- Figure t is a view of the under side of the hook showing the housing members as folded over the tongue member to inclose a portion thereof.

Figure 6 is a perspective view of one form of chain link which is adapted to be connected to this hook member.

Figure 7 shows the link member in section as connected to the hook member.

With reference to the drawings, 10 designates the'body portion of the hook, which has an extending shank bent into hook form 11 at its outer end, the tongue member 12 being folded over to extend through the body of the hook member to normally close the mouth of the hook.

rIhe body portion of the hook is formed by two wings 13 which are folded iirston the dotted lines 14 to form side walls 15 and then folded inwardly on line 16 to form a bottom wall 17 to provide a housing for a portion of the tongue member.

The inner end portieri 18 of the tongue is voffset outwardly to form a shoulder 19 to enga-ge the adjacent edge of thebody housing and scrive to support the tongue. against an excessive end strain on the links of the bracelet.

This loop 2O which serves as a bridge for connecting the shank and tongue portions together, is bent preferably in a semi-circular form` -to extend beyond the end of the housing sufficiently to provide an opening 21 on its ends to receive the inturned lingers 22 on the next adjacent link 23 of the bracelet.

In order to permit the next adjacent link 23 to be set with its edgesabutting squarely against those of the housing body portion of the hook, I have set this loop as at 23 inward so that the edge 25 of the link 23 may abut against this shoulder and the opposite faces of this link may then be formed fiush or in the same plane with the corresponding surface of the shank portion 10 of the hook and the bottom wall 17 of the housing.

By forming a housing for the tongue the same-is protected for a portion of its length against being inadvertently pressed to unlocked position as the'end portion 18 between the end of the housing and the end of the hook only is exposed to be engaged for this purpose. Then again, the side walls of the body housing serve to guide the tongue and hold it in proper position against a lateral strain upon it.

My improved hook is very simple and practical in construction and by making it in a single piece may be manufactured at the. minimum cost and it also provides a hook which is very strong and durable in construction.

rIhe foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
