CENTER SUPPORT FOR TUBE FRAMES.

To all whom it ma concern:
Be it known tha I, WILLIA IV. RoRER'rson, a subject ofthe King of Great Britain, residing at Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Center Support for Tube Frames, of which the following is a specification. f
This invention relates to wide Axminster looms in which the tuft yarn is presented to the warp by a plurality of tube frames on which the yarn spools and yarn tubes are mounted. The increased width of such looms has causeda corresponding increase in the length of the tube frames. Difficulty has been encountered in the use of these long tube frames, as they are commonly supported at the ends only and have been found to sag orbend in the middlefportion to such an extent that they interfere with other movable parts of the loom and are thereby frequently injured.
It is theobject of my invention to provide a center support or guide for such tube frames, by which they willbe held from downward displacement between the ends thereof. v
My invention further relates to arrangements and con'ibinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the appended cla ms.
A preferred form of the invention is shown in the drawings in which- Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a portion of an Axminster loom embodying my improve ments;

Referring tothe drawings, I have shown a portion of a loom frame 10 in which is rotatably mounted a shaft 11 having guide pulleys or sprockets 12 for the chains 13 which present and transport the tube frames 14. Yarn spools 15 are rotatably mounted on each tube frame andeach frame is provided with ears or brackets 16 by which it .the center of isdetachably secured to the chains13. All of these'parts are of the usual type. j
' My improved center support is shown as taking the form of a disc 20 secured to the shaft 11 in some convenient manner, as by set screws 21 (Fig. 2)., The disc 20 is provided with a series of recesses or notches .23,
each adapted to receive the rounded head or end 24 of a special center spool bearing 25 (Figs. 4' and 5). This bearing 25 is made in one piece and the spools lfiadjacent thereto are preferably provided with bearing studs 26, each of which extends approximately one half way through the bearing 25.

support is clearly indicated in Figs. 2 and 3, in which it will be seen that the recesses 23 receive the rounded heads 24 of the center bearings 25 and continuously support the tube frame fromdownward displacement as the chains 13 carry thetube frames around the guide pulleys 12. With this construction, the tube frames are held substantially straight during their movement around the shaft 11 and they are thus prevented from getting into the path of other moving parts of the loom, by which they might be seriously damaged.
Having thus described my invention and the advantages thereof, I do not wish to be limited .to the details herein disclose-d otherwise than as set forth in the claims, butwhat I claim is: g
1. In aloom, a yarn tube frame, chains to support the ends of said frame, and means to engage and support the center of said frame during movement by said chains adjacent the point of presentation of the tube frame. and yarn to the fabric.

In a loom, a yarn tube frame, chains to support the ends of said frame, sprockets for said chains, a shaft to which saidsprockets are fixed, and a recessed disc fixed near the center of said shaft and engaging and supporting said framesy' during; movement by'asaid chains adjacent the point of presentation of the tube frame and yarn to the fabric.
5. In a loom, a yarn tuhe frame chainscomprising a positively rotated member recessed, to receive the rounded end of said projection.
6'. In a loom, transporting chains, yarn tubeframes connectedito said. chains, and means to support the-frames intermediate the ends thereof whensaid frames are connected to the chains and adjacent the point of presentation of the tube frame and yarn to the fabric.
7. Ina loom having'transporting chains, a series of yarn tube frames traveling with the chains and movable one by'one from said chains toward and from Weaving position, and meansto engage the intermediate portions of certain of the"frames located" in the chains adjacent. the point ofiv pres.- entation of the tube frame and yarn to the .fabric and hold said portions clear of the frame which is moving toward" and from Weaving position.
8.- In a loom, a series of yarn tube frames movable one by one'toWard and from Weaving position, and'means acting on theinter mediate-portions of certain of the frames in non-weaving position.- but adjacent the point of presentation ofth'e tube" frame and yarn to the fabric to lfold said interinediate portions out of the path of 't'he'framewvhich is'nioving toward and from weaving position.
9. A yarn tube frame for Axminster looms having transporting chains and "a tube frame supporting member intermediate the chains, said tube frame having .SP OOlibEftfingbrackets on the ends thereof affording a connection between the chains" and" the frame, and having also a sp'ool bearing bracket intermediate the ends thereofprovided with an interior bearing for the spools and an: exterior "bearing surface to cooperate"witli the supporting"Inen'iberwhile the tube frame is connected to the chain and adjacent "the point. of-= presentation 1 of the tube framet and ya-rm to thevfabric."
10. In a loom, transporting:chainsa yarn tube frames attached to and movable with thechwinsysprocltets for the chains to hold the ends of the frames in spaced relationship, a shaft to which said sprockets are secured, and m'eansto engage the intermediate portions ofsaicrtu'b'er framesto hold said intermediate portions" in substantially the same relationship as that in which the ends-of the frames are held by tlies arockets while said" frames are attached to "said chains and ar'e' adjacent'the' point of presentation of the tube frame and yarn to the fabric.
11. In a loom, a series of yarn tube frames movable one by on'ei'to weaving position, yarn spools, a bearing member intermediate the ends of each" frame having an internal bearing surface for yarn'spools-an'd an external bearing surface, and means to en gage theexternaf bearing surface of the framesin non-Weaving positionbu't adjacent the point of prese itatioi'i' of the" tube frame and yarn to the fabric to hold" the intermediate portions of tliesaid frames out offthe path of the frame which is moving toward and from Weaving" position.
