Be it known that l, Ciminna H. Him, a citizen of the United Stategvreeidiiig at Schencctad f, in the county ot' Schenectady, 5 Stato of hcw York, have invented certain lnew and useful Improvemente in Disconnecting Switches, of which thefollowing is a specification.
My invention' relates to high tension Vdieconnecting Switches suited for outdoor use, and has for its object the provision of means for insuring that the operation of auch a switch is not impaired by the accumulation of ice, snow or other material on the switch contacts.

To this end where the hoods are made of this metal the edges ma he spun over small wooden rings if desire It will be observed that each oi the contai-,ts is protected against, slcet or snow in the Open position of the switch as well as in the closed position. 1 The switch contacts mayA therefore be opened or closed at any time without trouble from accumulations of elect or snow.
While my invention has been described and illustrated as applied to a switch hav ing one Contact arranged to move in a, rectilinear direction it is obvious that it. has
equal utility when both the contacts are arranged to lnuove rectilinearly or when either one on loo'th of the contacts are pivotcd to rotate in 'fi-substantially horizontal plane into and out of engagement with each other.
