IMPROVEMENT IN AWNlNG-FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,891, dated July 7, 1874; application filed June 26, 1872.
To all whom t may conccrn:
Bc it known that I, WILLIAM H. WILsoN, of Kansas Oity, county of Jackson, State oi' Missouri, have invented certain Improvements in the France of Awnings for Doors and Windows, of which the following is a specification:
Myinvention consists in so bracing an awning-frame by bars extending from the intermediate part of the front bar to eyebolts fixed in the building and holding the end bars that single straight bolts passing through the eyebolts and eyes formed in the end bars and braces form strongly-braced and smoothlyworking hinge-joints for raising and lowering the awning.
In the drawing, Figure l is a plan view of the hinge-joint. Fig. 2 is a plan view of an awning-frame constructed according to my invention.
A is the front bar of an awning-frame. B B are the end bars. B B are the braces. D D are the eyebolts, screwed into the iron pillars or masonry() O, so as to leave the eye or ring projecting. In the inner ends of the end bars B B and braces B B are also eyes, and when these inner ends are placed one on each side ofthe eye of bolt D, a straight bolt, F, is passed through all three and secured by a nut, thus forming a double joint, on which the brace and end bar work smoothly together, while said brace and endV bar act as` stays on each side of Jthe projecting eye of the screw-bolt D, to prevent the same from being bent either way by the force of the wind.
This will be readily recognized as a valuable feature by persons acquainted with the violent wind-strains to which awning-fastenings are frequently subjected.
Having now fully described my invention, I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The improved awningame, consisting of front bar A, having its end bars B B and braces B B jointed to opposite sides of eyes D D7 substantially as shown and described.
