To all whom' t may concern Be it known that l, FRANK S. PAnnrGiN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Martin, in the county of Weakley, State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Syringes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in syringes, and particularly to vaginal syringes.
One object of the invention .is to provide a syringe constructed and arranged to more readily permit the liquid to ow from the cavity, after having performed its cleansing or antisepticizing function.
Another object is to provide a device of this character wherein the nozzle is capable of extension to suit the depth of the cavity, without interfering with the shield which is placed against the mouth of the cavity.
A further object is to provide a device of this character wherein the outflowing liquid is carried away from Contact with the hands of the user.
Other objects and advantages willpbe apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents a cylindrical body. formed from metal, hard rubber, or the like, and having the opening 11 therethrough. The upper portion of the bore is, however, slightly greater in diameter than the lower portion, as shown at 11. Fitted in the lower portion of the bore 11 is a soft rubber sleeve or bushing 12', the same having terminal peripheral flanges 18 and 14, respectively. The inner end of the portion 11 of the bore is inclined laterally, as shown at 15, and the upper end of the bushing 12 is correspondingly inclined, so that its flange 18 may rest within the circulaichannel or ledge 16. Formed on the side of the body 10 is a laterally and downwardly curved pipe 17, the upper end of which opens into the side of the body at approximately the level of the lower side of the inner end of the bore portion 11. In the lower en'd of the lower portion of the bore there is formed a circumferential ledge 18 in which the lower flange 14 of the bushing 12 is seated'. To the outer end of the pipe 17 ahose 19 is connected, for carrying off the liquid discharge from VVthe cavity being treated.
The outer face of the upper end of the body 10 is threaded, and threaded onto this portion is the dome-shaped guard or shield plate 20, the same extending downwardly, or rearwardly to a point approximately in the plane of the lower side of the inner en'd of the bore portion 11. Formed on the lower end of the body 10, at a point diametrically opposite to that of the pipe 17, is a handle member 21, which is adapted to be grasped by the user to maintain the plate 2O properly seated within the mouth of the cavity being flushed.
Slidably 'disposed through the bore of the body 10, and through the bushing 12, is the stem 22 of the nozzle Q3, the inner end of which is formed for receiving thereon one end of a hose, while the other end is formed with longitudinal corrugations 24. Formed longitudinally through the center of the stem and nozzle is aliquid conduit 25, the outer end terminating` within a. spherical head 26, and radiating from this end of the conduit are short exit passages 27, the same opening through the face of the head for discharging liquid into the vaginal cavity. rlhe formation of the spherical head 26 results in the neck 28, iust inwardly of the head, and at which point the corrugations 24 terminate.
It will be noted that the stem 2Q. fits tightly within the bore of the bushing 12, while the portion of the stem within the portion 11 of the bore of the body is spaced from the walls of said bore portion, thus providing a circular space between the body and stem to permit the liquid to flow from the cavity into the bore, and finally escape through the pipe 17 to a receptacle not shown.
The stem of the nozzle is capable of being moved longitudinally through the bushing 12, to-cause more or less'of the nozzle end to project from the upper end of the body, in accordance with the depth of the cavity being treated.
The incline of the bore and bushingV serve to deflect the outfloWing liquid laterally'into the pipe 17, the bushing` 12 effectively preventing escape of any liquid therethrough or therearound, which might come into contact With the hand of the user.
