Description

STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
ROSE P. FANT, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Rosa P. FANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cuticle and Nail Salve, of which the following is a specifica- I tion.
This invention relates to a cuticle and nail salve, and has for its object to compound a preparation which will promote the growth of the finger nails. and the cuticle adjacent thereto and maintain them in a healthy condition.
My invention consists in the composition hereinafter described and claimed.
The composition is prepared as f oll ows:
' 8.1 S. Boracic acid Powdered alum .4 1 Bicarbonate of soda 2 Vaseline 6 Glycerin 2 Spermaceti Wax 8 The compound may be suitably colored and a perfume, such as rose water, may be added.
Boracic acid acts as an antiseptic; the
powdered-alum shrinks the pores, and the bicarbonate of soda will neutralize acids or alkalies that may be present in the nails or the cuticle adjacent thereto after the treatment of manicuring the nails. The Vaseline CUTICLE AND NAIL SALVE.
Application filed September 22, 1922. Serial No. 589,928.
softens the skin, the glycerin serves to penetrate the tissues, while the spermaceti wax gives body to the composition.
' The composition is especially intended for use in the ordinary manicuring treatment, but may be used at any ti c. It is applied to the nails and the cuticle adjacent thereto and rubbed in, and the excess is wiped 0H 0 with a soft cloth.
It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the porportions of the ingredients may be varied within small limits and yet good results may be obtained, although 5 it is advisable to adhere to the proportions rather closely. In place of the boracic acid, any other mild antiseptic may be used.
What is claimed is:
1. A cuticle and nail salve comprising a mild antiseptic, alum, bicarbonate of soda,
Vaseline, glycerin and spermaceti wax.
2. A cutlcle and nail salve comprising boracic acid, alum, bicarbonate of soda, vaseline, glycerin and spermaceti wax.
3. A cuticle and nail salve consisting of the following ingredients in the proportions stated, boracic acid one part, powdered alum one part, bicarbonate of soda two parts, Vaseline six parts, glycerin two parts and a spermaceti wax eight parts.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
ROSE P. FANT.
