To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARCHIE IVALKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cedar Grove, in the parish of Caddo and I State of Louisiana, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Fender Braces; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The invention has relation to means for stiffening and strengthening the wheel fenders of motor vehicles, whereby to preventrattle and the bending thereof when subject to a relatively light blow or pressure.

The invention has for its object the provision of a brace which may be readily applied to either the front or the rear fender without necessitating any change in the construction of the brace, the latter being simple, easily applied to either the front or the rear wheel fenders, and efficient in either position.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood.

While the drawings illustrate an embodiment ofthe invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the nature of the invention.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawings by like reference characters.

The brace comprises a bar 1 of suitable length to connect opposite fenders. Opposite end portions of the bar 1 are given a dicated at 3, to conform to the transverse curvature of the fenders, and the extremities terminate in hooks 4 to engage about the outer edges of the fenders. An inclined portion 5 connects the curved end 3 with the twisted portion 2. The inclined portion 5 and the curved end portion 3 are disposed relatively at an obtuse angle, the latter being designated at 6. This clip is reversible so that either of its ends may act jointly with the hooks 4, whereby to secure the brace to the fender. In practice,-

the front and rear wheel fenders are of different widths, the front fenders being somewhat narrower than the rear fenders, and when the brace is adapted for the front fenders, as indicated in Figure 1, of the accompanying drawings, the clips are adjusted with the long ends 8 facing the hooks 4 and when the brace is adapted for the rear fenders, the clip is adjusted so that the short end 9 faces the hook 4.

When the brace is in position, the hooks A engage the outer edges of the fenders, as indicated most clearly in Figures 1 and 3, and the outer ends of the "clips engage the inner edges of the fenders, thereby clamping the latter between the hooks and clips, the brace forming a tie between opposite fenders to prevent lateral movement thereof. As indicated most clearly in Figure 1, a license plate 10 may be attached to and supported by means of the brace.
