To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. WELCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grant City, in the county of Worth and 5 State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disk Plows, of which the following is a speciflcation.
This invention relates to an improved 1 disk plow for road excavators.
The primary object of the invention is" to provide a fin cutter for stationary disk plows, by means of which the furrow is cut centrally in a direction parallel with the 1 line of advance of the disk, whereby said furrow will be effectively severed for preventing clogging of the elevator of the excavator.
Another object is to provide a fin cutter of the above kind which is rotarially adjustable relative to the disk plow so as to permit proper positioning of said cutter when the disk plow is rotarially adjusted to present a new cutting edge thereon.
Briefly described, the invention embodies the provision of a fin cutter or blade on the upper surface of the usual stationary disk plow of a road excavator, which tin cutter has an inclined upper cutting edge,
for providing a longitudinal cut in the furrow.
Other objects of the invention will appear as the nature of theinvention is better understood, and the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

0 indicates a well known type of concavoconvex stationary disk plow adapted to be suitably carried by the excavator in such manner that the same is held against rotation when in use,although capable of being rotarially adjusted from time to time for presenting a new cutting edge, when desired. g V
In accordance with the present invention, a fin cutter 7 having a flange 8 along its inner edge, is provided, adapted to flatly contact with the upper or inner surface of the disk 5, when disposed radially of the latter as shown in Figure 1. It will be seen from Figure 2, that the fin cutter or blade 7 has its upper or longitudinal edge inclined by tapering the blade gradually narrower toward the center of the disk or toward the inner end of the blade.
In order to permit the position of the blade 7 to be changed whenever the disk 5 is rotarially adjusted, so that said blade 7 will at all times be parallel with line of advance of the excavator, said blade is preferably attached as shown'by means of a bolt 9 extending through the inner end of the flange 8 and through the center of the disk, and by means of another bolt 9' extending through the outer end of the flange 8 and adapted to enter the desired one of the series of equally spaced marginal openings 10 provided in the disk 5. By means of this construction, it will be seen that when the bolt 9 is loosened, and the bolt 9' is removed, the blade 7 may be rotated relative to the disk to the desired position, after which, the bolt 9 may be again tightened and the bolt 9 again inserted through the opening in the outer end of the flange 8 and the new opeliliing 10 which has been alined' therewit By means of this construction, it will be seen that the fin cutter is detachablv, adjustablv and rigidly secured to the disk in a simple and effective manner.
In use, the fin cutter 7 is positioned at the rear side or top of the disk 5 so as to out the furrow as the latter passes tothe elevator of the excavator. Also, as thefin cutter or blade 7 is disposed radially of the disk and parallel with the line of travel of the latter, it will cut the furrow substantially centrally in advance of the elevator, so that the latteinwill not become clogged during the operation of the excavator,
From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction and operation as well as the advantages of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled; in the-art:

What I claim as new is 1. A plow disk comprising a concay oconvex circular body, and an outstanding and disposed radially from the central portion to the peripheral edge of the body.
