Be it knownthat I, JAMES E. BRDEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have in? vented new and useful Improvements in' Centering Devices, of which the following is a specification. 4
This invention relates to improvements in geometrical instruments; and, more particularly to center finding devices.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and highly eicient device in the nature of a simplified tool that can be carried about in a persons vest pocket so as to be ready for instant service whenever required. y
Another object of my invention is to provide a simplek center finder constructed of very few parts that enables the center of round stock to be very readily and easily obtained without measurement.
With the above and other objects in view my invention consists in the arrangement, combination, and details of construction disclosed in the drawings and specification and then more particular y pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts indicated in the respective views,

Referring to the drawings which are merely illustrative of my invention A designates a sheet metal frame in the shape of a half circle and an equilateral quadrilateral cut diagonally and a longitudinal sheet metal strip B is secured to said frame at itscentral median line. Take the round object 122*v as an example; after it is positioned so as to lie upon the strip B and made to contact the edges llband 12 as aforesaid it will be found that the edge 11 `of the `strip Z7 will The strip B 'is secured at its oppositeendby a pass through the center of this round object 11'of the strip B; then by turning the object around ranother line will be similarly scratched while the object still engages the strip 11 and contacts at two points against the inclined edges 11b and 12, this line being designated as at 14. These lines or any other lines converge as at 19 and intersectl v at the center of the object as at 16. ,By means of the punch the mechanic can then lforma niche in the center of the object in a well known manner.
