Be it known. that I, ToNJss A. BOTH, y a citizen of the United States, residing at" 4 Stratford county of Fairfield, State of Gon 5 necticut, nave invented an Improvement in Attachment Plugs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an attachment plug. and has for an object to provide a p-lug'oi this type which will be simple in construction and comprise comparatively few parts.

The body member of the ordinary plug is provided with the spaced contact blades 16 adapted to be inserted in the slots 17 19 connected with the blades 16 lead to any desirable fixture. Slots 17 and 18 extend longitudinally ofan insulating body member 20. The other end of the body member is provided with a shoulder or ledge 21 surrounding a central projection 22.- In the 1 is an elevation of theusual'jack 26 biade plug adapted to be and 18 in my improved plug. The wires preferred construction hollow securing members or bushings 23 are molded in the body member as shown in Fig. 5, the ends thereof extending above the surface of the ledge 21, as shown in Fig. 3. An open-ended,- threaded shell 24: provided with an inturned flange '25 which has openings therein adapted to fit over the ends of the securing members 23. -Also fitting over the ends of these members 23 and within the screw shell is'a segmental portion 26 or" the contact membeiand the ends of the members 23 are spun over the top of this member, as at 27 in Fig. 5, thus securing this contact member andthe screw shell upon the ledge 21 of A U-shaped spring conthe body member. tact lementQ-S is secured tothe segment 26 and extends into the slot 18.
Secured in the'fouter end of the shell 24 is an insulating button29, this button being provided with ashoulder 30. On the outer wall thereof and at its inner end is a transverse channel 31, which channel exismounted on the body member as described above. The button 29 is now inserted within open 'end of the screw shell 24 with the contact spring 33 extending into the slot 17 and'the inner end of the button resting against the end of the projection The outer end of the shell 24: is now flanged or spun over the shoulder 30 as shown at 34. This securely: retains the button in position and the spring 33 being set in the recess 31 prevents. the button turning within the shell should it become loose at retaining means 3034. The contact springs 28 and 33 are provided with struck-up portions 35 adapted to extend into i tends from a point-on one side of the center I openings 36 formed in the contact blades 16 when the same are insertedin the slots 17 and 18 and co-act, therewith to tend to retain these blades Within the slots and offer resistance to the withdrawal thereof.
In the modification shown in Figs. 6 and 9, the shell 24 and the contact 28- are secured to the body member 37 by means of countersunk screws 38, these screws being threaded into the segmental portion 39, the holes therefor being drawn up, as shown at 40, to increase the length of the tapped hole to receive the screws 38. Otherwise, the structure of this modified form is the same as that disclosed in Figs. 2 to inclusive.

An attachment plug comprising an insulating body provided with a central projection at its inner end and spaced contact slots piercing said body, a-screw shell around 831d projection and open at 'both ends, means for Securing the shell to the body, a contact in one of said slots electrically connected with said shell, an insulating button in the other end of the shell .abutting the projection on the body and provided with a shoulder on the outer walls thereof, the end of the shell being spun over this shoulder to retain the button in position, a central contact extending through said bllttOIl,*3Ild a contact electrically connected therewith located! in the other slot in the body member.

means carried by the body for securing the shell on said ledge, a receptacle contact shell, an insulating button secured in .the open 'end of the shell against said projection, the inner end of this button being provided with a transverse recess, a central contact extending from the outer end of the button to said recess, and a contact blade extending longitudinally in the recess secured to the "central Contact and-eX tending into the other slot in the body member.
4. A- device of the character described comprising an insulating body member having spaced contact slots leading from one end thereof and a ledge j at the other end, hollow bushings molded into the body mem ber and projecting above said ledge, an open ended screw shell having a perforated flange fitting over said projecting ends, said ends spun over the flange to retainthe shell in position, an insulating button secured in the other end of the shell, a central contact in said button, and contacts carried by the body member in said slots having electrical connections, one with the central contact and the other with the shell.
5. A device of the class described comprising an insulating body member having spaced slots extending longitudinally thereof, and rovided at one end with a ledge surrounding a projection, bushings in said,
body member and projecting .above said ledge, an open ended shell provided with a flange having openings to receive said projecting ends and secured to the body y the spun over ends of these projections,

An attachment plug comprisingan insulating body'member provided with spaced contact slots extending longitudinall thereof from its outer end, a screw shel at the inner end of the body and open at its outer end, means for securing the shell to the body, a contact in one of said slots'electrically connected with the shell, an insulatin button in the open end of the shell an providedlwith a shoulder on the outer walls thereof, the end of the shell'being spun over this shoulder to-retain the button in position, a central contact central contact.
