Pdlhll FflEi NICOL MAGNICOL, 0F KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA.
IvIEMOBANDUll'I-PAD HOLDER.
Application filed .Tune 6,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NICOL MAONICOL, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of Kaml'oops, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Memorandunrlad Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in memorandum pad holders the objects of which are to provide a means whereby a calendar pad having a plurality of loose leaves may be conveniently supported upon a vertical surface, such as at the side of a wall telephone, and in a manner permitting the use of opposite sides of each leaf thereof for entering notes, further objects are to provide means for holding used leaves flat against the surface of the pad and to provide a convenient holder for a. pencil.
The invention consistsessentially of a vertical panel having removably fixed staples for holding a pad or the like, and a pro jecting ledge under which a leaf holder is slidably supported, as will be more fully described in the following specification in which Fig. 1 is a front view of my invention.
Fig, 2 is a side view.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the manner in which the used leaves are held in upright position.
In the drawings like characters of reference indicate correspondiin parts in each figure.
The numeral 1 indicates a panel of wood or other suitable material which is apertured as at 2 for fastening with screws or otherwise to the wall, the numeral 3 indicates a pair of staples one leg of which is threaded as at s e Fig. 3, and is provided with a nut 5, by which the staple is secured to the panel 6 indicates recesses in the panel 1 to receive the end of the opposite leg of the staples 3.
flhe numeral 7 indicates generally a shelf projecting from the face of the panel 1, which is set at a suitable distance above the staples 3 to accommodate the used leaves of the uad 1 therebetween, the upper face of the shelf being provided with grooves 8 to form a holder for a pencil. 9 is a downwardly projecting strip secured to the outer edge of the shelf 7 having an aperture 10 in 1923. Eerial No. 643,761.
which 11.
The numeral 12 indicates a pad or calendar, perforated as at 13 for engagement of the'several leaves-thereof by the staples 3. 1 indicates that portion of the pad which is slidably fitted a leaf holding plug opposite leg of the staple and its free end is held in inverted position by the leaf holding plug 11, thus leaving the reverse side. of each leaf available for further notes.
It will thus be seen that l have invented a simple and cheap device by which full and effective use may be made of calendar or loose leaf pad attached thereto, and which permit of the leaves of such pad being snugly held in inverted position against the panel of the device and leaving at all times the obverse side of one and the reverse side of another lea-f available for instant use.
What I claim as my invention is:
combined memorandum pad andpencil support comprising a base plate, means for supporting the pad on the base plate in such manner that each leaf of the pad may be separately swung from a depending to a reverse position, and means for retaining the leaves in the last mentioned position comprising a pencil supporting shelf projecting outwardly from the base plate at a suitable point above the depending leaves, a plate secured to and depending below the outer edge of said shelf, said plate being .-'nied with an opening aligned with a guide 1 provided in the underside of the i, a plug arranged to slide in said groove and through said opening, and a knob at the outer end. of said plug.
Dated at Ka.mloops,,B1'itish Columbia, this 1st day of May, 1923 NICOL MACNICOL.
