CASTING-TACKLE BELT.

Be it known that I, FnANcrs J. KRoHA, a citizen of the United States. residing at Danbury, county of Fairfield, State of (onnecticut. haveinvented an Improvement in Casting-Tackle Belts, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a fishermans belt and has for an object to provide a belt of improved construction for carrying the tackle and various devices carried by the fisherman, and which will carry them in such a way that they vare easily acceible and are always kept in good condition. It is also an objectto provide a device of this character which is so arranged that it will not interfere with the operations of theuser.

VVit-h these and other objects in View I have devised the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Fig. 1 is a top plan view of the belt detached.

It is substantially recl tangularin shape asshown and is mounted with its open side toward the belt as shown in Fig. 3. Secured below `the lower end of this container is a coil spring 32 mounted on the member 29 and provided with an arm 33 pressing against the bottom of the container and having its other `arm 34 engaging the bottom edge of theouter member 29. This spring by pressing against the bottom of the container tends to hold it in an upright position between the sides of the outer member 29 so that the open side of this container is closed by the wall 35 of the outer member. This container may be secured in upright or closed yposition by the snap fastener 36 carried by a tab 37 secured to the belt and coacting with a button' 38 carried by the container. When it is desired to gain access to this container all that is necessary is to unfasten the snap 36 and push forwardly and downwardly on the upper end This will move the container downwardly as shown in Fig. 3 to allow access to the interior thereof for easy removal of whatever' tackle is contained therein. When the pressure is released from the container the spring 32 automatically returns it to closed position. It willbe noted that when this container is open it is closed on all sides except the top so that the contents thereof will not drop out.

Various tackle element-s and devices may be distributed throughout the various containers as desired by the individual user to suit his particular requirements, but the various pockets and containers are designed for devices as follows:

As the boxes are automatically held closed there is no danger of the tackle dropping out even when the user neglects to fasten the same in osition.

It will be apparent from the above that the various pockets and containers are so located on the belt that all the'various devices used are kept separate and in order and are accessible at all times, there being no necessity of bending over to pick up various devices required nor having to return to a base of supply as they are lall carried along with the user. The devices are so held that there is no danger of the'm becoming -entangled with the resultant danger of loss and vexation to the user. The belt is also simple in construction and, therefore, comparatively cheap to manufacture. v

Having thus described the nature of my invention, what I claim is:

1. A ishermans belt including means for securing it about the body of the user, said belt having pockets opening adjacent its upper edge, relatively large pockets secured to the front of the belt adjacent the opposite ends thereof, said pockets opening at the top and provided with overhanging closures, and

self closing boxes adapted to hold casting iasaeee tackle secured to the belt between the latter pockets, said boxes comprising outermemers secured to the belt and open at the top and front, a box sha ed container pivoted between the side mem ers adjacent its lower end, said container being open at the rear hold casting tackle secured to the belt between said pockets, said boxes comprising outer members open toward thel front and top secured to said belt, a box shaped container pivoted between the sides of the outer member adjacent its lower end, said container being open toward the rear but closed 0n all other sides.,` and a spring tending lto hold the container in an upright position with the open'side against the outer member to close said side.
