SUSPENSORY BANDAGE.
Application -led April 18, 192,2;- Sorial N10.. 555,295@- To all wromfz' may concern.'
Be it known that I, CHARLES S. KrimsrnAD, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Andovenin the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in S-uspensory Bandages, of whiehthefollowing is a speciication.
This invention relates toa. suspensory bandage and has for its object to provide ay device of therharacter mentioned which is capable of being easily adjusted and fitted tothe body, will be light andv com-y fortable to wear, can `lbe easily launderedand is also durable.
The invention consists inthe combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following spec-iication and particularly pointed. out `in the claims thereof.
Referring.- to the drawings:
Figurev 1 represents a perspective View of a suspensory bandage embodying my invention, kthe device :being illustratedinthe positionitoccupies when adjusted'and fitted to the i body of the. wearer.
Fig. 2 is a. View illustrating the device before beingv fitted to. the wearer, the free end of? the pouchA being detached from the waistband.
Fig. 3 is a transverse section` taken on the line 3 3. of Fig. 2 and illustrating the padding at the rear edge of the pouch.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the loops illustrating the hook attached at the rear thereof.
Like-numerals refer to like parts throughoutJ the several views of the drawings.
In the drawings, 5 represents-a waistband embodying therein a front member 6 constructed of any suitable strong fabric at the rear of which a belt portionv 7' constructed of a suitable nona-elastic webbing is permanently attached. rIlhe belt portion 7 protrudes beyond each end of the front' at.12 and stitched to a reinforcing tape 13. A free end portion 14E of the pouch 10 is,v fastenedby stitching toy an auxiliary waistband 15 and said end portion is gathered at 16 and stitched to a reinforcing tape 17. The auxiliary waistband 15 is detachably-secured tothe waistband :5 as illustrated in Eig. lyby a plurality of. fastening mem-k bers-18 secured to-sa-id auxiliary waistband, said. fasteningk members 3o-.operating Vwith other fastening members 19 fast to saidwaistband 5. The; effect produced by gathering the material of the pouch l0 at 12 and 16 is to form an'enlarged intermediatev portion- 2O` as.. illustrated in., Fig. 2, and when the auxiliary waistband 15 is attached tothe. waistband 5 as illustrated in Fig. 1 the pouchlO constitutes a receptacle in whioh the scrotum is supported in the usual well known. manner.
The frontand rear edges offthepouch `10 are; protected by binding' tape-at 21 and 22 respactively,l and thecentral portion of the rear edge. of said pouch is pr-mfidedi with a-suitable padding to prevent the body of the wearer from becoming chafedfrom contact therewith. When the free end of the pouch 10 is attached.` totliewaistband 5 an opening 2e 1s provided. atvthe front of; said:
and detachably secured to 1 the f front portiony of the waistband 5 adjacent to one side of the pouch 1,0,.a hook 2,8 fast to said loop-cooperating with one of aplurality of eyes 29 fast to said waistbanditofasten said loop to kSaid waistband. The tape 26 connects with a loop 27 detachably securedto the front portion of the auxiliary waistband 15 adjacent to the other side of saidy pouch 10,
the hook 26 fastto said loop (so-operatingy therear portionl of the pouch. 1() has beellv adjusted to lit the wearer, the end portions of said tapes are tied together et 30 andV 31 respectively as illustrated in 1". Itis evident that thedevce as '..llnstratod 25 and 26 allow the rear of said pouch to i be adjusted to the height desired. The elastic loops 27 provide a yielding support for the rear of the pouch l() and said loops may be quickly transferred from one eye 29 to another of said eyes in adjusting the device to comfortably it the body and said loops may be removed entirely from the device when the latter is laundered.
I claim:
