To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY SCHNACKEN- BERG, a citizfii of the United States, and a resident of Stroudsburg, in the county of Monroe and State of Pennsylvania, have in vented a new and Improved Outfit for Producing Drinks, of which the following is a description.

My invention relates to an assemblage involving nested cups, between the bottoms of which is an air and moisture-proof chamber adapted to contain commodity.

The invention is more particularly intended to be an improvement on the outfit forming the subject-matter of Patent No. 1,366,839, granted to me on the 25th day of January, 1921.

An object of the present invention is to provide an assemblage comprising an outer cup and an inner cover and in which the cover does not protrude from the outer cup; as well as to provide novel means for lifting the cover from its nested position to afford access to the material in the sealed chamber between the bottoms of the cups and cover, and specifically to give such a form to the device for withdrawing the inner cover, that said device may be made available as a stirrer.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, it being understood that the drawing is merely illustrative of one example of the invention.

Figure 1 is a vertical section of an outfitembodying my invention;

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the inner cover with part broken away and with the attachment for moving the same, showing the extended form of said attachment;

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the attachment for withdrawing the inner cover; and

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the attachment shown in Figure 3, but folded along a longitudinal medial score line for stiffening the said attachment to make it available as a stirrer.

In carrying out my invention according to the illustrated example, a flaring outer cup 10 is provided which may be of any known form of drinking cup having a bottom 11. In association with the outer on 10 is an inner cover, preferably in the orm of a shallow cup or cuplike device 12 of less height than the outer cup so as to be wholly received within the latter to permit close 1922. nesting of a plurality of similar units and for economizing material in the manufacture of the units. The cover 12 may be formed in the usual way of making drinking cups and with any suitable bottom 13.

The cover 12 is snugly received in the cup 10 to form a closure of the latter and to provide a space or chamber between the bot.- toms of the respective cups for accommodating a suitable quantity indicated at A of material to produce a beverage, medicine, or other drink.

In order to provide for the removal of the inner cup 12 from the outer cup 10, I employ a strip 14 which may be made of stiff paper, preferably waxed paper. The strip 14 is slitted a short distance at the lower edge and approximately at the medial line and the lower end is adapted to be bent in opposite directions to form tongues 15, said tongues in practice being passed downwardly through a slot 16 in the bottom 13 of cover 12 and the tongues then spread as shown in Figures 1 and 3 to fasten the strip 14 to the bottom 13. Tongues 15 are glued, in practice.

The strip 14 has transverse score lines 17 alternately at opposite sides so as to fold in opposite directions thatthe strip may lie in collapsed form within the cover 12-, the score lines permitting the strip to be readily extended when grasped, as indicated in dotted lines in l igure 1 for withdrawing the inner cover 12 by exerting a pull on the strip 14. In addition to the transverse score lines 17, the strip 14 in practice is scored longitudinally as at 18, alon the medial line so as to be doubled or f0 ded upon itself lengthwise, as shown in Figure 4, in which form of the trip 14 it is serviceable as a stirrer. The strip 14, it is understood, is torn off at the tongue 15 for use as a stirrer.

As explained in my patent above referred to, the cover 12 having been withdrawn,

water or other liquid is poured into the outer cup 10 to form the drink in connection with the material A. It is tobe understood also that, as in my mentioned patent, the inner .cove. and, the outer cup nested as shown and with the material A therebetween is vendab'le as a unit.

I would state in conclusion that although the illustrated form constitutes 'a practical embodiment of my invention, I do not. wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise details illustrated, since, manifestly,

-the same can be considerably varied without tom of the outer cup a chamber, and COIl]' inodity in said chamber, said chamber being air and moisture-tight by reason of the [itof said inner cuplike device within the outer cup; together with an extensible strip attached to said inner cuplike device and serving for use in pulling said device from the outer cup, said stri when extended having alength to constitute a stirrer for the commodity in the outer cup.

As a new article of manufacture, an outfit for producing drinks comp-rising an outer cup, a closure fitting entirely within the outer cup materially below the top thereof and forming with said outer cup and its'bottom an air and moisture-proof chamber, a commodity in said chamber adapted to be mixed with water to form a drink, and a folded strip attached to said inncr device and formed in a plurality of folds,- said strip adapted to be unfolded and extended above the top of the outer cup for exerting a pull on the inner device to withdraw the samc, said outer cup the inner device and said commodity in said chamber adapted to be vended as a unit, the strip when unfolded constituting a stirrer.

As a new article of manufacture, an outfit for producing drinks comprising an outer cup, a closure fitting entirely within the outer cup and forming with said outer cup and its bottom an air and moistureproof chamber, a commodity in said chamber adapted to be mixed with water to form a drink, and a folded strip attached to said inner device adapted to be extended for exerting a pull on the inner device to withdraw the same, the inner device and said commodity therein adapted to be vended as a unit, said strip having transverse score lines to facilitate the folding and extension thereof and having a longitudinal medial score line for the folding of said strip to stiffen the same for use as a stirrer.
