PATIENT OFFICE.
INGVALD HEIEN, OF HEDEMARKEN, NORWAY.
BITLESS BRIDLE.
Application filed June 8,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, INGVALD HEIEN, a subject of the King of Norway, residing at Stange Station, Hedemarken, Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Bitless Bridle; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of. the invention, such as will enable other skilled in the art to which it ap'pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. I
The present invention relates to the kind of bridles, which are not'provi'ded with b-it and in which an adjustable nose-piece is connected with rotatable parts on each side of the nose being tightened by the rotation of these parts, which is effected by pulling the reins. The invention consists in the reins being laid over pulleys to which is also fastened the nose-piece, the free ends of the reins being connected with the collar.
In the drawing a constructional form of the invention is illustrated.
Fig. 1 illustrates the arrangement in place on a horse.
Figs. 2 and 3 show details drawn to a lar er scale.
t each side of the horse head there is located a member 1 consisting of metal plate or frame connected to a nose-band 2. The member 1 is provided with a trunnion 4 on which is fixed a pulley 5 and on the. latter reins Gare laid, the free ends of the reinsbeing fastened to the collar at 7. The trunnion 4 is extended outwards and has an arm 8 fixed thereon the lower end thereof being provided with a hole in which the end of the reins may be fastened. Around trunnion 1 thearm has the form of a circular disk 10 on the periphery of which is provided a perforated extension 10' forming with the arm 8 a bell crank lever and to said extension is fastened a strap 11 forming an adjustable nose-piece and being adapted to be tightened by a pull in the 1921. Serial No. 476,016.
reins, whereby a pressure is substituted on the side of the horse head on which the pull is actuated.
Instead of fastening the end of the reins at 7 pulleys may be mounted on the collar over Which the reins may be laid, the
free ends being then fastened to arm 8.
band, a pulley rotatably mounted. thereon on each side of the bridle, a lever fixed to each pulley, an adjustable nose piece connected to the levers, and bridle reins passing over the pulleys for independently rotating the latter.
2. A bitless bridle comprising a nose band, a trunnion rotatably mounted in the latter on each side of the bridle, a pulley fixed on each trunnion, a bell crank lever fixed on each of the trunnions, an adjustable nose piece connected to the levers at one end thereof, and bridle reins passing over the pulleys for independently rotating the latter.
3. A bitless bridle comprising a nose over the pulleys for independently, rotating the latter, said levers having perforated ends for connection with the nose-piece and reins.
as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
