' A. C. CRIMMEL DRAWER PULL AND LABEL HOLDER Filed June' 26 1923 Illn 3 b ATTORNEYS.

ALVIE C. CBIMMEL, 0F HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA.
DRAWER PULL AND LABEL HOLDER.
Application filed June 26,
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, ALVIE C. CRIMMEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford City, county of Blaclrford, State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Drawer Full and Label Holder, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my present invention is to devise a novel construction of a drawer pull and label holder which can be made of transparent material, such as glass, so that it can be maintained at alltimcs in .a sanitary condition and so that the label will be protected from the action of dirt, dust and foreign material, the arrangement being such that the label is visible through the drawer pull.
It further comprehendsa novel construction of a drawer pull which can be formed from glass or plastic material preferably by a molding operation and which when in place will serveasa protection to the drawer or cabinet in conjunction with which it is employed.
With the above-and other objects in view which will hereinafter clearly appear my invention comprehends a novel construction of a transparent drawer pull to whichif desired a label may be applied.
it further comprehends a novel drawer pull having a body portion in the form of a plate provided with means to receive devices to secure it in position and also provided with a recessed portion to thereby form a grasping handle.
It further comprehends a novel transparent drawer pull wherein the bOCly portion is recessed in order to receive a label visible through such body portion, the body portion being provided with a transparent grasping handle, which is arranged in such a way that a recess to receive the fingers of the operator is provided between the body por tion and the grasping handle.
Other novel features of construction and advantage will be hereinafter set forth in the detailed description and the appended claims.
For the purpose of illustrating my invention, I have shown in the accompanying drawings embodiments thereof which are at present preferred by me, since these e1nbod iments will be found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results. It is, however, to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention con- 1923. Serial No. 647,783.
sists can be variously arranged and organ- Figure 1 represents, in front elevation, a
drawer pull and label holder, embodying my invention.
Figure 2 represents a bottom plan view thereof.
Figure 3 represents a section on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 represents abottom plan view of another embodiment of my invention.
Figure 5 represents a section on line-5-5 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 represents a Plan view of a typical label which may be employed.
Figure 7 represents, in perspective, another embodiment ofmy' invention.
Figure 8 represents a section on line 8-8 of Figure 7.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings.
Referring first to the embodiments seen in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive, 1 designates the body portion of a drawer pull and label holder, embodying my invention. The body portion is in the form of a transparent plate having apertures 2 which are. adapted to receive the fastening devices which secure the body portion-to a cabinet or drawer. The body portion 3 servesto protect'the cabinet and off-set from this body portion is a grasping portion t between which and the body portion 3 is' formed a recess 5.
If it is desired to use a label, a label 6 may be employed having adhesive on its front face so that it can be secured to the rear wall of the grasping handle 4.
In' the embodiment seen in Figures 4: and 5, 7 designates the body portion having the aperturesS to receive the fastening'devices, the off-set transparent portion 9 having the recess 10 to receive the fingers of the operatOr and the label 6 if employed is secured in position in a similar manner to that seen in Figures 1, 2 and 3.
It will be seen that in this embodiment the body portion does not extend beneath the grasping handle 9.
In the embodiment seen in Figures 7 and 8, 11 designates the body portion which is in the form of a plate having at opposite portions the apertures 12 to receive the fastening devices which secure the device in place. The body portion is in the form of a plate 14 having preferably at its rear a label receiving aperture 13. The body portion is provided with an offset handle 15 between which and the plate 14 is provided a recess 16 to receive the fingers of the operator. In this form of my invention, the label can be dropped into place in the recess 13 and is readily replaceable since it is not necessary to employ any adhesive unless desired. In this form of my invention the label can also if desired be secured to the rear face of the grasping handle 15.
All the embodiments of my invention are preferably formed by a molding operation from plastic material such as, for example, glass, so that the device can be economically manufactured and will be transparent so that the label can be readily seen. The label is protected from the action of dirt, dust and foreign material and since it is positioned within the device, it is not liable to be mutilated and will at all time present a neat and attractive appearance.
It will of course be understood that it is not necessary in all cases to employ a label and the label can be omitted if desired. The pull is preferably molded in one operation but if desired the base and grasping handle can be formed separately and thereafter united in any desired or con vention al manner.
It will be seen that in all the embodiments of my invention, as herein shown, the grasping handle is surrounded by a body portion which serves to protect the cabinet or drawer and also to provide means for receiving the fastening devices.
The grasping handle is preferably curved outwardly and downwardly and also at op-' posite sides in order that there will be no projecting parts which would be liable to be contacted with by the user.
It will now be apparent that I have devised a new and useful drawer pull and label holder which embodies the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description, and while I have, in the present instance, shown and described preferred embodiments thereof which will give in practice satisfactory and reliable results, it
to be understood that'these embodiments are susceptible of modification in various particulars without departingfrom the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A drawer pull made of transparent material having a body portion provided with a recess adapted to receive a label and having an off-set handle connected with the front wall at its top and sides and open at its bottom.
2. A glass drawer pull and label holder having a body portion in the form of a plate and an off-set grasping portion connected at its sides and top with said plate and forming an opening to receive the fingers of the operator, and a label positioned to the rear of and visible through the grasping handle.
3. A glass drawer pull and label holder having a body portion, a plate provided with a recess at its rear adapted to receive a label and having an off-set handle connected with said body portion at its top and sides and open at its bottom, and a label for said recess.
1. As a new article of manufacture a drawer-pull of transparent material, having a body the major portion of the front of which includes a recessed transparent offset constituting a finger-grip, said drawerpull being adapted to have positioned with respect thereto indicia bearing means discernible through said finger-grip.
5. As a new article of manufacture a drawer-pull of transparent material comprising a body portion of substantially rectangular configuration the rear of which is flat and the major portion of the front of which includes a recessed continuous transparent off-set constituting a finger-grip, having a substantially convened outer face said drawer-pull being adapted to have positioned with respect thereto indicia bearing means discernible through said transparent finger-grip.
