Be it known that I, FREDERICK WV. KoHL,

a Acitizen of the United States, and resident of Ripon, in the county of Fond du Lac and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention relates to improvements in portable cooking stoves, and particularly to that type adapted for use by campers.

Heretofore, in stoves of this character it has been found that they are constructed in i5 such a manner that the movement of the same from place to place is a considerable source of annoyance to campers, particularly where it is necessary to carry both the stove and foodstuff in a very limited space.

Therefore, the object of my invention is to provide a. stove of the class described so constructed that the same may be moved from place to place and set up in a very short orde-r.

Another object of my invention is to provide a stove so constructed that the same may be secured to a movable vehicle and removed therefrom at will.

A further object of my invention is to provide a stove adapted for use by campers and one that can be secured to the running board of an automobile for transportation.

Still another object of my invention is to provide means for securing the stove to a vehicle for transportation and said means further supporting the stove when used for cooking.

It is another object of my invention to provide a stove forming a dust proof and4 water proof receptacle and having therein means for holding food, and other objects, during transportation.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application and in which similar characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of my improved stove showing the same secured to the running board of an automobile.

Figure 2 is a front elevation of the same.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 1 designates the body of my improved stove the same being constructed of sheet metal or the like and having an end portion 2, a top 3 serving as the cooking top, and two side walls, the latter being provided with a vertical portion 1 and an inwardly inclined portion 5, to which the bottom 6 is connected. Referring t0 Figure 3 it will be noted that this particular structure provides a support for a covered receptacle 7 adapted to be placed within the body and upon the inclined walls 5 for the reception therein of cooking utensils, foodstuff or the like, while the lower portion of the space formed by the inclined walls re.- ceive therein a smoke pipe 8 adapted to be connected to a collar S which surrounds a smoke opening arranged in the top 3, the. same having thereon during transportation of the sto-ve a suitable cap to prevent dirt from passing down into the sto-ve.

ln the accompanying drawings l have shown the end portion, the side walls and the bottom of the body 1 'as being constructed of one piece of met-al, but if desired the same may be formed of independent pieces and connected together to form the shape above described.

The end portions of each side wall Zlchave secured thereto in any suitable manner the vertically extending metallic bars 9, the lower end portion of each extending beyond the bottom of the body 1 and provided with an outward extension 10, which serves as a foot or support for the body when the stove is removed from its attached position to a vehicle.

rlihe oppositely disposed bars 9, at each end of the body, are connected by cross bars 11, the same being pivot-ally connected to the former, as at 1Q, for a purpose hereinafter to be described.

The open end of the body 1, or the front end thereof, has secured thereto by rivets 13, a U-shaped aluminum frame 14C, the inner side of each leg having therein a groove 15, as disclosed in Figure 4i, for the reception of the edge of a removable door 16. As disclosed in the drawings, it will be noted that the frame 14 is secured to the side walls of t-he body und to compensate ton the space that would occur should the tront edge of the top lie in the saine plane with the side edges, I have extend-edl the top out to lie tiush against the door, folding the same upon itsel'l es indicated et 17.

Slidable in the grooves 15, of the trame 14e, is a door 1G, the seine having secured thereto a suitable handle 18 and openings 19 arranged in its lower portion which serve es draft openings, the letter being opened and closed by a member 2() pivoted to the door and having :in operating knob 22. The lower end oit the door 16 projects beyond the bottom edge of the iirziine 111 and has therein an opening 23 through which suitable securing means 2e, such as e bolt or screw, passes to engage with the trame 14C to lool; the door in e closed position.
