I claim r 1. A ladder including a pair of rungsupporting chains and rungs carried by links there-oi, characterized in that a metallic rung near the top of the ladderv has its ends engageably entered within opposite links of the chains, and is provided with bearing members respectively outside each chain, the diameterof said bearing members greatly exceeding the diameter of thereof, said members respectively forming localizing saddles tor-the side bars of chain links with which said rung engages.
