As said shaft is slidable as stated, the pinion 24:r may beinoved in part from the movable rack 25 to the iXe/drack 27 and engaged with the latter and thus the pinion isl locked 'and prevented A.from rotation. Now
it'will be seen that when the valve V7 isto4 V.be opened-the pinion-24 is rotated by the h andle 31 ofV the` shaft 23 whereby the rack Y 25 ris raised andwith it the stem 26', the over;
liow pipe 8 and the-valve, the latter being i raised from itsseat 6 and accordingly opened allowing theV water. in the -tuby to escape there-- from through they pipe 3.' The pinion 24 is then pushed inwardly whereby 'it is engaged with .fthe-fixed rack 27, while alsoremaining engaged .with the inovablelracl; 2,5, and so the pinion is rendered non-rotatable and the movable .rack 125 is 'locked thus-holding the *l valve 7 raised in its openV position and the tub'is drained. l When the Ytub isto be re filled the pinion 241is drawn from the fixed rack 27 and sovremains engaged with only the .mov-able rack 25 when the llatter is permitted or caused t0 lower, whereby-thel valve 7 returns toits seat and so closesrthe drain or ,outlet `of rthe tub, when 4water xmay be sup` plied to `the latter through the nozzle as before. i Y

In a bath tub appurtenance, a supply nozzle for saiditubfafisupply branch, an over# flow branch adapted to be connected with the nozzle, bothfbran'ches 'lbeing-a'dapted'to communicate with :the vinterior of the nozzle, and a divisional guard at the confluence -of the saidbranches.

8. A supply nozzle for a bath tub, a tubular shank for said nozzle adapted to direct at the coniiuence of said shank and branch having between the same and said shank a passage adapted to direct the overflow water of the tub through said nozzleto said overiiow conveyor. Y

In a bath tub, a supply nozzle for the tub, a supply branch leading into said nozzle an outer branch for the overflowwater connected with said nozzle,l and an overflow discharging member in communication with said conduitJ outlet branch, both branches being in communication with the interior or said nozzle.
10. In a bath tub, a slidable overflow member communicating therewith, a valve on said member, a chamber containing said valve, and a seat therefor, the said overlow pipe having a slot to permit of its removal and a drain pipe of the tub connected with said chamber, said valve being adapted to close and open said drain pipe by the movement of said overflow member.

In a bath tub, a slidable tubular overflow member, means including an elbow one limb of which is received in said overiiow pipe Jfor forming a communicating connection for said member with the interior of the tub, a Valve on said member for the drain pipe of the tub, means for mechanically operating said overflow member, a chamber adapted to contain said valve and its seat, and a portion of said overflow memberv and adapted to receivethe drain and overflow waters of the tub, andA a connection for said chamber with the drain pipe of the tub. v

In a bath tub, a slidable tubular over iiow member, means including an Velbow oneV limbof which is received in said overflow pipe for forming a communicatingconnection for said member with the interior ofi. the tub, a valve on said member-for the drain pipe of the tub, means for mechanically operatingsaid overflow member, Va chamber adapted to containrsaid valve and its seat and a portion of said overflow member and adapted to receive the drain and overflow waters Yof the tub, a connection 'or said p chamber with the drain pipe of the tub,
and a device for locking said means .whereby said valve is held in open position.

In a bathtub, a slidable tubular overflow member connected with the tub, a valve thereon orthe drainpipe of the tub, a casl ing adapted to contain a plurality of racks one movable and the other iiXed, a pinion in said casing, a shaft carrying said pinion and being rotatably and slidably mounted f -on saidrcasing, whereby said" pinion may operate the movable'rack and-be engaged with the iixed rack thus locking the movable rack, and a connection for the movable rack with said overflow member.

In al bath tub, a slidable Y overow member, a valve thereon Yfor the drain pipe of the tub, a waterfsupplyv member for the tub, a Vconductor for the overflow water leading from said water supply member and having a portion entering said overflow member, the latter having in its side a slot adapting the overiow member to slide on said portion.
