By referring to the drawings it will be seen that, to place the nipple in position, it 7 is not necessary to handle the inside portion of the nipple or the mouth of the bottle as must be done when placing the nipple on nursing bottles in common use. The preferred form of the invention is shown in Fig. 3, where the guide and spreader is integral with the receptacle; although I havemade guides and Spreaders and attached them to thereceptacles, it is also possible to get results by using a guide and spreader as shown in Fig. 5, which is a ring adapted to fit in the mouth of the receptacle Fig. 6. After its action of guiding and spreading the nipple into place on the receptacle Fig. 6, the ring remains inside the nipple while the nipple is firmly held by the time as the nipple is bead (9), until such removed, when all parts can be separated and thoroughly sterilized.
