A mortise is cut in the door post and at the top and bottom of this mortise are placed a pair of metal Z bar seats a, a. One bar Vo the Z is countersunk into the post and secured thereto by a wood screw b. The other on the line 3--3 Vbar of the Z forms a seat for the keeper plate c. Each seat is bored and tapped for three screw holes. lThe two outside screw holes take the spacing screws ,7a. which have Vshouldered heads arranged to engage the counterbored holes z' bored in the back of the keeper plate c. The center screw hole takes the clamping screw Vf which has a head engaging a countersunk portion so as tobear against the outside of the keeper plate. The
reduced slotted heads of the spacing screws protrude through the keeper plate and their outside faces face.
