Be it known that 1, JOHN F. DoNNnLLr, a citizen of the United States and a resident of North Plainfield, in the county of 50m- 5 erset and State of New Jersey, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in a Hair Crimper, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.

This invention relates to a class ofcurling devices. It has for its object primarilylto provide a vcrimper adapted to be used by women for facilitating the work ofcurling the hair without requiring the employment of heated irons, and which is ofa form whereby the strands of hair practically in entirety or the desired portions of the strands may be closely or loosely curled in a manner so thatthe curls or waves will be retained for considerable periods. The inventioncontemplates mainly the provision of two jaw members having one of their ends pivoted for being swung to and from each other in spaced relation, and on one of the members is wrapped the hair, while the other memher is adapted to. serve for holding the wrapped hair. A third j aw memberis pivotally held to the pivot-of the pair of aw members for being swungnpon One of the pair of members for alsoallowing the hair to be wrapped. thereon, and clamplng members are provided on thejawj members for releasably fastening the members together.

A- further object of the invention is to provide a hair crimper of a simple, efiicient and durable construction which maybe made in any appropriate size.

With these and other objectsin view the invention will be hereinafter more fully described with reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specificatjion in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the'views, and will then be pointed out in the claims at the end of the description.

While the crimper as thus constructed may be used in the most convenient manner for curling hair, the device may be effectually employed as illustrated by swinging the jaw members 10,17, 24 to open positions, as shown in Fig. 1, and wrapping the hair, as

, While in the foregoing description, I have embodied the preferred form of my invention, I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself. thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from'the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, therefore, I reserve to myself the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope thereof.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters member, a second jaw member having one of its ends pivoted to one of the ends of the first mentioned jaw member so that both members may be swung to and from each other in spaced parallel arrangement, comple'mental clamp members on the second ends of both jaw members for releasably fastening both jaw members together, and a third jaw member having one of its ends pivotally held to the pivot of the pair of jaw members so that the third jaw member may be swung to and from lapping position on the second jaw member as well as being 'detachably engageable by the clamp memher of said second jaw member.
