Be it known that we, WALTER J. HER- SCHEDE and WALTER EBERHARDT, citizens of the United States of America, and residents of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Chime-RodI-Iolder for Clocks, of which the following is a speci fication.

An object of our invention is to provide a mounting or holder for chimes of clocks and similar instruments, wherein greater timber and resonance, and better tone qualities are attained than are attained by the use of the mountings known to us.

Another object is to attain a more musical and a more mellow chime, of longer and freer vibration. V L

These and other objects are attained by the means described herein and disclosed in the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the chime mounting embodying our invention. 1

The holder A comprises a massive base a which is adapted tobe secured upon a wall of a clock, or similar instrument, and from which extends a massive intermediate portion, vibration bar, or standard a at the upper or free end of which is formed a massive shoulder of. We have found that the construction disclosed herewith enhances the tone qualities and attains the objects stated.

What we claim is:

1. A chime rod holder comprising a base, a head adapted to fixedly seat chime rods,

and a vibrating'bar spacing the head and the base.

2. A chime rod holder comprising a massive base, a massive head adapted to seat chime rods, and a massive vibratingbarextending from the base, supporting the head and spacing the headfrom the base.
