This invention relates to improvement in telephone toys, and particularly to toys simulating in appearance a desk telephone connecting screw one of the transview of the transmitter instrument, such, for instance, as shown in my Patent No. 1,d19,632 June 13, .1922. Toys of the telephone type are provided with atransmitte mouth-piece, and it is desirable that this mouth-piece should be removable, not only to permit it to be sterilized, but for convenience in assembling. The object of this invention is to provide a toy telephone with a removable mouth-piece, and the invention consists in the construcand ;p'art-icularly recited in the claims.
As in the application above referred to, the toy consists of a post 10 mounting abell 11. Mounted in the top of the post is a pair of fingers 12 and 13, between which is mounted an arm 14, which is connected between the fingers by a rivet 15. This arm 14 is formed with shoulders 16 and 17, and
with a longitudinal slot 18 extending in- Ward from its outer end. to asemi-circular mitter andthrough disks 24 and 25 applied to the open face thereof, these disks being provided with centrally-arranged clearanceopenings 26 and 27, and the end of the screw enters a threaded hole 28 formed for it in the center of a mouth-piece 29, which, when turned on to the screw, comes to a bearing against the disks 25 and 26 and clamps the shell 28 in place. In turning'the mouth-piece onto the screw, the lugs 22 come to a bearing against opposite faces of the arm 14:, and thus is held against rotation.
l Vith this construction, the mouth-piece may be readily removed when desired, and the parts are assembled and connected together in a firm manner without riveting.
I claim:
1. A telephone toy comprising a post, an arm pivotally mounted in the top thereof, said arm formed with a recess and with a groove entering the outer end of the arm and intersecting said recess, a screw having its head entered into said recess and extending forward into said groove and beyond the said arm, a shell mounted on said arm,
a disk closing the outer end oi said shell, and a mouthpiece turned onto the end of said screw.
2. A telephone toy comprising a post, an arm pivotally mounted in the top thereof, said arm formed with a recess and with a groove entering, the outer end of the arm and intersecting said recess, a screw having its head entered into said recess and provided in its under face with lugs, and extending forward into said groove and be yond the said arm, a shell mounted on said arm, a disk closing the outer end of said. shell, and a mouthpiece turned onto the end of said screw.
in testimony whereof, Ihave signed this specification in the scribing witnesses.
JOSIAH n. KIDNEY.
