' Application filed Novemberv 18, 1922. Serial No. 600,769.
To all whom it may concern Be it-known that I, MORRIS CRUPAIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and 'useful Improvements in Toilet-Article Packages, of which the following is a specificati0n.- This invention relates to improvements in toiletarticle packages adapted to be used in combination with a powder puff, said package being a transparent envelope to encase said puff, there being disposed interiorly within the package a stiffening or.
extension sheet provided with an opening centrally thereof .whereby the ornamental side of the powder puff is exhibited through the transparent covering while through the opposite side of the transparent cover the opposite side of the powder puff is observable, thus providin a means which keeps the package flat and mits an inspection of both sides of the puff so. -that a choice of designs may be readily v transparentmaterial bent to provide the lower flap 6 and the overlapped edges 7 and '8 and the closed edge 9. Adapted to be Slipped within the envelope or package is the powder puff 10 which, is here shown of a a circular shape and provided with the ornamental side 11. The ornamental side is adapted-to face the plain side of the enat the same time per velope, that is, the side opposite to the edges 7 and 8, while also slipped within the envelope is the extending sheet or strip 12 which is provided with a central opening 13 through which the ornamental part of the powder puff is observable. About the opening is an ornamentation 14 which is also observable throughthe main face of the envelope.
By making this package in this manner, the'extending strip 13 holds the package perfectly flat so that the powder puff is held in a sanitary position as well as flat, the said powder puff beingobservablethrough the rear of the package and the ornamentation through the-opening of the extension strip.
Althoughthe opening here is shown circular, it 1s evident that other shapes such as star, heart, diamond, may be used and still be within the scope of the present invention;
Although the complete package is here shown as square, it is evident that the same also may be made oblong or triangular and still be within the scope of the present invent-ion.
What I claim as new is: ,7 A toilet article package comprising in l combination a powder puff having an ornamental face. a transparent envelope encasing said puff and through one wall of which one side of said puff may be inspected. and a printed or pictorial ornamental relatir'ely stiff sheet insertible within the envelope to maintain the envelope in substantially extended form. said sheet being provided with an opening through which the ornamental side of the powder puff is observable through the-opposite side of the envelope.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
MORRIS CRUPAIN.
