Be .it known that l, Hanni. linear, a citizen ot Russia. residing: at Johnstown, in the county ol Cambria and State oli Pennsyl- Vania, have invented certain neufv and use iul improvements in a. ySafety Razor, oi which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to safety razors, and has ior one oit its objects to siinpli't'y and imln'ove the construction and increase the ciliciency and utility ot the saine.
notlier object ot the invention is to pro vide a device ol this character otu few parte which may be incxpei'isively manufactured easily assembled or disassembled, to enable the blades to be removed or inserted, and` vhich will not get out of order, and wherein the parts are firmly held in their relative positions.
liiith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features ot .construction as hereinafter shown and described, and then specifically pointed out in the claim, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment ot the invention. i
ln the accornpanyinp,I drawing:
l "igure 1 is a plan view of the improved device with the parts assembled.
F 2 is a side elevation with the parts arrai'lged as in Fig. l.
Fig. 3 a perspective view o'tthe holder part oit the device.
Fig. le is a perspective view of the blade part of the device.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view ot lguard part of the device.
Fig'. 6 is a transverse section on the line 66 of Fig. 1.
The improved device comprises a guard member represented as a Whole at 10, a blade representet at 11 and a holder repre` sented as a Whole at 12.
The `guard is formed with its side edges converging' toward one end and the convergingr edges formed with guard lingers 13, as shown. and `with an open slot 14 in the smaller rnd and a stud 15 extending` 'troni one tace intermediate the ends. and a stud 15 entendinpy troni the same 'tace near the slot lxtendingr from the Wider end of the guard member is a projection 16 With .its outer part semi-cylindrical and threaded as shown at 17, the extension 16 being' provided principieel? the invent-ion or sacriticing ivith a stop shoulder 20 at 'the 'inner end ot the threaded portion.
The holder 12 is formed With a projection 21 which corresponds to and closely engages the portion 16 ot the guard 1t), the outer part 21" of the projection 21 being` semicylindrical and corresponds to the threaded part 17 ot' the extension 16. The tWo portions 17 and 21 when engaged face to face form a complete cylinder externally threaded.
The part 21 also has a lip 22 which corres ponds to the stop shoulder 20.
By this means the two portions when coinbined produce a completely threaded stud and connectingl bodies which merge into the plate 10 and holder 12.
Attached to or formed integral with the holder 12 at its smaller end is a catch or lip adapted to engage in the slot 14 and extend beneath the adjacent portion of the plate i0, as shown in F ig. 2.
The holder 12 is also provided with an aperture 24 to receive the stud 15 oi the plate 1l).
The blade 11 engages between the'plate 10 and holder 12, and is provided with slots or recesses 25 and 26 to respectively engage the studs 15 and 15. f
The handle is indicated at 27 and includes an internally threaded terminal 28 to engage over the threadedportions 17 and 21 and thus bind `the parts together and hold them i'irmly united.
rllhe guard 1() and `holder 12 are slightly curved shown in Fig. G and when tightly compressed by the` coaction of the threaded portions 17 and 21 and the threaded socket 27 of the handle, produce a positive and strongr clamping` gripy upon the blade.
The blades 11 are thus iirnily held in position, and easily and quickly released for renewal or sharpening.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed vin theidraivings and set iiortli in the spec-iiieation. but it Will be understood that any modifications Within the scope ot the claim may be made in 'the construction without departingI 'troni the any et its advantages.
lVhat l claim is:
ln a safety razor,v a blade member having` cutting edges and outwardly opening slots in its ends, a guard member supporting said blade and having a threaded half stem at one end and an open slot at the other end, said guard member having a lug near one end of a greater height than the thickness of the blade and projecting through one of the Slots thereof and a lug near the other end of a less height than the thickness of the bla-de and engaging in the other slot of the same, a holder member having a threaded half stem coaeting with the half stem of the guard and bearing upon Said blade, said holder having a slot to re- `an'internall)v threaded handle member engaging over said threaded half stems, and operating to Clamp the guard and holder upon the blade.
In testimony whereof7 aix my signature hereto.
