citizen of theUnited States, residing at 1 Canal ulton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, haveinvented a new and use-j U ful Door Opener, of which the following is a specification. Q j r t This invention relates to door opening mechanism for use upon garage doors and thelike and has special reference operating door opener.

Each of the valves 31 is provided with a longitudinal bore extending through the outer end thereof and communicating at the inner end with a transverse bore 36 located through the reduced neck oi the valve. Normally the fluid pressure within the chamber 29 will hold each of the valves 31 in the closed position.
When it is desired to operate the mechanism to open the doors the lever 21 is rocked by means of the cord 25 moving the valve casingtoward the jet 12, the adjacent valve 31 being engaged by said jet and forced inwardly allowing fluid pressure to pass from the pipe 19 through said valve and into the jet 12 and then through the hose 16 to the rear end of the cylinder forcing the piston outwardly and opening the doors.
In order to close the doors the cord 26 is pulled, moving the valve casing toward either of the jets which communicate with opposite ends of the cylinder the fluid operated mechanism may be very simply operated.
Although a lever is shown for moving the valve casing into engagementwith the jets, it will be understood that any usual and well known means may be provided for shifting the valve casing into engagement With either of the jets and for normally holding the valve casing in the neutral position. It will also be understood that the device may be applied to a single door as well as to double doors, or to hinged doors as well as to sliding doors, without necessitating any change in the valve shifting mechanism.
I claim:
1. A door operating mechanism of the character described comprising in combination with a fluid cylinder, a jet communicating with each end of said cylinder, a fluid supply line, a valve casing therein, a pair of normally closed valves within said casing,
each valve being arranged to be opened by engagement with the adjacent jet and means for moving the valve casing toward either jet to allow lluid from the supply line to pass through said valve and jet to the adjacent end of the cylinder while the other valve remains closed.
2. A door operating mechanism of the character described comprising in combination with a fluid cylinder, a pair of spaced, fixed jets communicating with opposite extremities of said cylinder, a fluid supply line, a valve casing connected to said fluid supply line and suspended between said jets and normally located out of engagement with both jets, a pair of normally closed valves within said casing, each valve being arranged to be opened by engagement with the adjacent jet, while the other valve remains closed, and means for selectively moving said valve easing into engagement with either jet to allow fluid from said supply line to pass into the adjacent end of the cylinder.
