Be it known that NATHAN BIEBER, a citizen of the United States of America, resid- 'ing at Poland, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Loaders for Corn Binders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide an elevator and loader for corn binders, the same to be extremely simple and inexpensive in construction.
A further object is to provide a device of this class which may be attached to ordinary corn binders.
A still further object is to provide a device of this class so constructed and arranged as to elevate the corn bundle by means of a single chain conveyor, so as to drop said bundle crosswise upon a wagon to be driven underneath the outer end of said elevator, and to deliver the bundles in transverse layers so that there will be no necessity of manual labor in loading the same upon said wagon.
This invention consists in certain details, in the construction, arrangement and combination of these various parts of the device, whereby the objects contemplated are obtained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

The drive shaft 7 has mounted upon its rear end in a slidable manner a sprocket wheel 8. The upper end 9 of the chain race 5 is provided with support arms 10 carrying a sprocket 11. i
By referring to that the platform 4 takes the form of a parallelogram with the outer rear corner of the same cut away from point 12 to point 13, thus giving an edge between the points 12 and 13 at approximately 45 degrees from the chain race 5.
In operation the bundle 17 is thrown out by means of the binder upon the edge 14 of the platform 4, where the prongs 15 of the chain 6 grasp the bundle 17 near the band 16, and carry the same upwardly and outwardly upon the elevated chain race 5 and upon the platform 4. As the chain grasps the bundle 17 near the butt end 18, the butt end 18 is carried more rapidly than the other end 19 of the bundle 17. This move-. ment is due to the elevation of the chain race 5 and theretarding frictional movement of the end 19 upon the platform 4.

What I claim is: I
In a device of the class described, a platform, said platform being rectangular in form with the exception of having the rear outer corner of the same cut away, thereby forming an angle approximately 45 degrees from the front edge of'said platform, a
chain race secured tosaid platform in an adjustable manner near the front edge of said platform, a drive shaft provided with a slidably mounted sprocket carrying a chain, a chain passing over said sprocket and functioning in said chain race, a sprocket secured to the outer end of said chain race for the purpose of carrying said chain, a plurality of prongs formed on said chain,
means for supporting said device in corn junction with a corn binder, substantially as 10 described for the purpose set forth.
